If anyone is interested in pictures of the flooding in Australia - the area affected is the size of Germany and France combined. After years of drought, the irony of it all... just about as devastating as the cyclones can be.

How horrible! Stay safe and as dry as you can. You're in our prayers.

Rainy Day 01-08-2011 04:24 AM

Flooding usually means being cut off, so we won't know if our Queensland and Northern New South Wales quilters are OK for a while. Hope they are all safe.

S D G 01-08-2011 04:24 AM

This is so heart breaking. I\we hope you are safe and well. Prayers for everyone.

CarrieAnne 01-08-2011 04:53 AM

Sending Prayers, and stay safe!

maryb119 01-08-2011 06:21 AM

I hope you are all safe and dry. We had flooding in our town last summer. The clean up is never ending.

Laura3 01-08-2011 06:35 AM

My brother and his family live in Nambour, Queensland and I am staying in touch with them. Thankfully their house sits very high and they are doing ok. This is so sad...My thoughts are with you.

damaquilts 01-08-2011 06:46 AM

oh my what a mess.I feel for you all. I did read the comments and it sounds like Americans have something to learn from you all. It sounds like people pitched in and helped each other much more than here.
Good luck and I hope it clears up soon.

Murphy 01-08-2011 07:35 AM

Oh my word; weather all over seems to be out of control. Be safe.

amandasgramma 01-08-2011 08:41 AM

WOW!!! I've seen flooding in my hometown, but NOTHING like that!!! Thanks for the pics!!!!

jojosnana 01-08-2011 09:07 AM

I feel for all of you. I was in Oklahoma in May of 1984 and lost everything in 8 feet of water. It was a terrible thing but my daughter and I and our lovely dog all lived so we went on but many didn't. I will put you in my prayers.

christina d 01-09-2011 06:21 AM

I have a son and a daughter in the floods one in Mackay and one in cairns it is hard to imagine unless you are there but last time there were crocodiles walking the main streets in Mackay

grannypat7925 01-09-2011 07:28 AM

What devastation. My prayers go out to all affected!

Lyn 01-09-2011 07:43 AM

What a sad situation but if anyone can survive it's an Aussie. Good luck, I know you will bounce back.

What terrible devastation.

IBQUILTIN 01-09-2011 04:03 PM

I have several friends over there. I must contact them today, its driving me crazy not knowing how they are doing

Marge L. 01-09-2011 04:14 PM

With all of the disasters happening all over the world, I'm thinking that perhaps the Lord is trying to tell us something.

Don't forget the people of Carnavon in Western Aust, they are flooded as well. Watched the flood appeal on TV last night, it was heartbreaking to see the devastation to crops, not to mention the loss of wildlife as well as people's properties. My daughter has just returned to a rainy Brisbane after 2 weeks of perfect weather here in Tasmania - daylight saving and warm sunny days, oh how she misses them.

clair 01-09-2011 04:43 PM

Oh my gosh!!!! I hope you are all safe.

ksea 01-09-2011 04:46 PM

I have been wondering how our quilter friends are doing over there. Stay safe and know that lots of prayers are coming your way.

craftymatt2 01-09-2011 06:54 PM

Oh My!! that is horriable, my thoughts and prayers are with the people of Australia, are you getting some type of help from your goverment?? I dont know what else to say, this looks so horrific.

cafegold2 01-10-2011 10:58 AM

Is the government aiding these flood victims?

Lynnie25 01-10-2011 01:36 PM

Yes the Government is providing aid and help to the flood victims. It is getting worse each day - yesterday there was a flash flood on a city inland - a huge wall of water hit without warning, washing away houses, cars, people - so far there have been 8 reported deaths, including children and this is expected to rise....so very sad.

Have friends and family live in this city area so am a little concerned today.

And in the west, there are huge bushfires raging.

Debra Mc 01-10-2011 02:42 PM

Can't win. Somebody is either being flooded, burned or blowed away. Then the bottom falls out from earthquakes. At least we don't have volcanos in Texas. Prayers & good luck to you all.

auntiehenno 01-10-2011 05:48 PM

My prayers go out to all living in this. Heard on news today that the aligators are now becoming a problem. OMG.

Lynnie25 01-10-2011 05:55 PM

There was a story on the news a couple of days ago about a property owner whose house was surrounded by land not flooded (about the size of an average football field) and this property owner and his wife were safe but sharing their space with over 1000 deadly snakes who were looking for dry land. Now that would be unbelievable - I would not be able to sleep that's for sure

melslove 01-10-2011 05:56 PM

My prayers go out to everyone in this area, how devastating :(

Debra Mc 01-10-2011 06:59 PM

Thats what they make shotguns for.

BevD 01-10-2011 07:16 PM

Thoughts are with everyone in the flooded areas, daughter and her boyfriend are near Ipswich and told to evacuate their house half hour ago. Sticking with friends at the evac point.

Pat P 01-10-2011 08:26 PM

Our hearts go out to the good people of Australia. We know they are made of tough stuff! Hard to start over. Prayers in multiples are heard on High. Be of good courage, we care.

mayday 01-11-2011 08:29 AM

This is SO TRAGIC ,is there anything we can do but hope and pray, are there any fundraisings?

cafegold2 01-11-2011 10:54 AM

Now we should take time to listen to Him. Love thy neighbor.
