Question about crocheting
I suppose I'm like the student who told me he couldn't look up the word in the dictionary because he didn't know how to spell it.:) I've been looking for a crocheting technique that uses a long crochet hook where a whole row of stitches are held onto the hook to be completed all at one time. If I recall the hook has a flat cap on the opposite end of the hook....and the name of the technique begin with a "t." Anyone familiar with this technique? Thanks in advance for any response. Gail

Yep! You can also use a double-ended hook, to make nice, thick reversible items.

It's also called afghan stitch.

I make some of my washcloths with the stitch with cotton yarn.
it's not the easiest to work with, but makes a really nice washcloth. |
As two other people have said, it's called afghan stitch and it uses a special "crochet hook" that looks like a knitting needle with a crochet hook at the point.
