Question for Accuquilt users

My friend is not a quilter, but she uses decorative fabric circles on the tops of jars of herbal tea.
At what point (# of circles cut/amount of time possibly saved) would it be cost effective for her to purchase an Accuquilt if this is the only thing she would use it for?

You can check the Accuquilt website to see if they have the size she needs and the cost of the die. Is there is any chance that she knows someone that has the unit? They may let her borrow it or come over and use it. If they don't have the die she needs then maybe she could buy the die for the use of the machine. When my friend wants to use my GO she asks to come over and play and we usually make an afternoon of it.

How does she cut the circles now? How many does she need to cut daily/weekly?

Sizzix makes a small reasonably priced cutter and circle dies.... Just for a point of comparison...

It will not be cost effective to buy an AccuQuiltGo cutter ($249.00 is the usual price) and a circle die (at least $20.00). The suggestion of borrowing the use of the cutter is excellent, though, even after buying the die.

I think that Olfa has a circle cutter. That would be a whole lot less money.

I don't know if Sizzix or AccuQuilt or any cutter makes a circle cut big enough for the top of a jar. Your friend needs to do some internet research before she spends the $$$ on a cutter she may not be able to use.

Yes, I agree. I think Nancy's notions offers that one and another brand. The prices on these would be better than investing in cutter/die....

If circles is all she needs then the Olfa circle cutter would be the way to go.

I agree with the Olfa or some other brand, if she is not making very many at a time. It definitely depends on where her production level is at. If she really wants a Accucut cutter, she could try to find a used one to save money. I have seen them for sale on several Yahoo groups, like SewItsForSale or [email protected] .
