I know that no one can say for sure, just wondering if you can say at all from experience - If you have a mammogram and there's a thickened area that they want you back in a few months for a repeat mammogram - and the report goes to your dr and he calls you in for an exam --- what are the odds that he'll want a biopsy?

I would get a biopsy done (they thought I had some problems a few years ago and found out it was fibro disease but they still do a mammogram and a sonogram to be sure

my mom detected a spot on her breast on a Sunday, went to Dr on Monday, mammogram test on Tuesday and she had her left breast removed on Thursday

so be sure to get a good examination!

I have had three biopsies done and everyone comes back negative and I would get another one done tomorrow if they wanted it too many women have cancer that is found too late Having had a friend die of breast cancer at 34 I wouldnt take any chances

Well, I won't say no if he wants to do one.... but I'm just getting a bit anxious about it. I mean - I want to prepare myself for the possibility of him wanting to do that. Of course the thought of cancer terrifies me, but so does even this part of it. I'm scared!

Of course you're scared out of your mind. It's only natural.

Fortunately, when I had that diagnosis, I was at the time volunteering at our hospital and could talk to some of the nurses.
I asked them if they had such a diagnosis, which doctor would they themselves choose. They are not allowed to say anything against any one, but most of them chose one doctor, which is who I went to for surgery. Behind the scenes more than one nurse told me who to stay away from!!

And in my nervousness, I forgot to ask one simple thing, if he did reconstructions!! Seems he didn't like it and never did suggest such a thing..he's dead now so it won't hurt to tell this. So now I live with a Bosom Buddy stuffed in my bra every day, then I go on with my life.

I have had three biopsies. They were all benign. But, I would have another tommorrow if I thought it was abnormal.
I do not want to take any chances. Life is to precious to take chances. Hugs to you!!! All will be fine.

In my recent experience, I think the mammogram machines are getting more sensitive and therefore there are more repeats, ultrasounds, biopsies that are routinely performed. Not that this is bad but it is scary.

I had two mammograms plus two ultrasounds this summer and was in the room for the biopsy when the radiologist looked at everything and said you know this is really borderline and why dont you just do a repeat ultrasound in a few months. I was talking to my sister and she had the same experience in another town but she had the biopsy which was negative.

Yes, it is scary, but a biopsy is a piece of cake... PM me if you want/need to talk...

about 40 years ago a lump came up in my right breast. I made the appointment with my dr. to have a biopsy done but by the time came for the biopsy the lump had started going down. My dr. game me the choice to have the biopsy or not. I opted to have it for my own peace of mind. It was fibrous material and nothing at all. But I am glad that I had it as it would have worried me until I lost my mind. My prayers are with you that things will be okay. I'm sure that you will be fine. {{{{hugs}}}

My last mammo they saw a couple lumps. The biospy was set up for the very next day. I got very concerned... actions being taken so quickly - like gawd that can't be good! BUT, they were benign (thank God). The biopsy was surprisingly painless & quick (at least it didn't really seem like it took very long). I'll be pray'n all is well for you.
