Another thought for your consideration:

How about using sew-on, not fusible, knit interfacing? Place the stretchiest direction of the interfacing at 180 degree angle to the outside pocket fabric. Yes, there'll be some give but also "return" because of the 180 degree angling. Taking a look at the combination may just turn out showing you the answer you're looking for.

Definitely have to prewash the flannel though!

I have made quillows with cotton and batting. I would use a little glue, put cotton wrong sides together with the fleece and do a little quilting and then follow directions. That would keep the pocket from streching out of shape.

Make the backing of the pocket with flannel. Perhaps the flannel will stabilize the fleece.

Thanks for all the suggestions! i am going to try the flannel. i bought a lot on black friday and of course i have some extra here a home! going to cut out what i need for a xmas rag quilt that i have been wanting to do for about three years now (lol) and then wash the rest of it to use hopefully on these! will try to post some pics if it works!

No need to use stabilzer. I have made hundreds of quillows out of polartec and the one thing to remember, is that usually width wide is the stretch and length is not. So don't make the pillow part as large, make it 16-18 inches square and make sure that the stretch goes across the opening of the pillow on the quillow. Use a walking foot if you have one to attach it to the quillow, and if you don't, then use a small zig zag stitch to allow for stetching. Thanks

I have made quillows out of fleece had no problems turn out great.

Hi,I used to make these to pass on to the homeless,added a strap so they could carry them around.At night they could put their possessions in the pocket as well as their feet to keep them safe.Good idea to use fleece throws, I think I will start to make more.Love Letty.
