Are any of you members? Is it worth $30 annual membership?

What do you like?

What don't you like?

I'm really torn and having a tough time deciding.

Thanks

I tried it, you get discounts at Joanns and I am pretty sure keepsake quilting. It's ok. Probably will not redo my membership as I enjoy this site more.

I joined and never found any part of it that I wanted to use so I did not rejoin. This site helps me more than any other I have found!

I joined earlier this year prior to my Paducah trip. I had previously purchased a bunch of old AQS magazines at a quilt show really cheap, loved the magazine and figure the mag plus the discount entrance to Paducah was worth it. I didn't read well enough and found out the mag is only printed 4x a year. Major bummer. I haven't used any of the discounts .. frankly didn't know there were any at Joanne's or Keepsake. I only buy notions at Joanne's - but I DO buy notions at Joanne's, and I place occasional orders with Keepsake. I'll have to look at the benefits again next year before I renew.

I really do like the magazine. I buy quilting mag's not for patterns, but for new techniques and inspiration. So AQS and Quilting Arts are my two fav's.

I'm glad to get this information too!

I am a member but haven't decided about renewing. Haven't really used it that much and the discount is only 10% at JoAnn's and has some stipulations attached.

I joined recently. The ad said I would receive $700.00 worth of quilting supplies. The only thing you receive is a $10.00 subscription to Fons& Porter's easy quilts, and a 10% off discount card for JoAnns, and offers for dicounted other things. I live 200 miles from Jo Anns and am too poor to order all the 40% off things, so I find it a rip off for me.

Podunk Princess 08-01-2011 07:33 AM

I was a member for a couple of years. I lived close to a Joann's so used the discount card and the coupons to get 50% off an item that was not on sale. Now that I live more than 100 miles from a Joann's the discount is useless because you can only use it in the store so I did not renew. I did find several free quilt patterns to download that made it worthwhile as well as getting the magazine for free. I rarely used the video features but they are a good source of information also. If you divide the membership cost by the number of months in a year it is a good value for someone who takes advantage of ALL it has to offer.

I have subscribed to it for the last 3 years but find now that with the economy the way it is, I shall not renew my membership. The 10 pecent discount from Joanns helped a lot, but I now have this site to rely on for ideas, fabrics, and so much more that I do not see going back to Joanns enough to make it worth while. Magazines are okay but only glance through them and then toss them aside.

Sheila_H 08-01-2011 09:53 AM

I'm glad someone started this one as well because I was thinking about it along with the Pams which I think is based in Australia. My LQS they have 15% off fabrics and a frequent buyer card that afer it's full you can use it to take $25 off anything in the store. I find there's lots of sites out there that have free pattern downloads so I go to those quite a bit and then whatever info and material I find on this board.

If you like to watch past episodes of quilting shows, there are a lot choices. However; I have a hard time watching videos on a computer screen. I want my big screen TV when watching shows.

amma 08-01-2011 11:12 AM

I joined the first year, and didn't renew. There are so many free you tubes, free shows, free patterns on the net that I seldom found anything there that wasn't already available for free. :D:D:D

AQS and Quilter's Club of America are not the same. I belong to AQS, and like it. The Quilter's Club of America is somehow related to Fons & Porter....it used to cost a lot more to join, and I never did because of the cost. Even at $30, I still probably won't. There are so many sites with free information, patterns, etc. I can't see the benefit.
