Are quilters real busy or what?
It seems the board does not have as much activity lately. Has anyone else noticed?:(

it seems as if everyone went away... very strange.
|
There was Thanksgiving to prepare for and now the after sales and Christmas is approaching fast; probably busy, I know I am.

Not too busy, but getting a lot of quilting done.
|
Yes, I have noticed, but I can't get what I need to do "done" either. But here I am. I can't stay off of this machine.
|
I agree. It does seem there is not as much activity on the board. Probably has to do with the holidays, finishing up Christmas gifts, shopping, planning, cleaning. Hopefully everything will pick up after the first of the year.
|
I have noticed that in the last couple of months that there are quite a few missing members.Way before we started fretting about the approaching holidays.Back in April I received an e/mail from an old member wanting me to join a different quilters site because this one was no longer user friendly. I don't remember exactly when the format changed but it was far enough in the past that I no longer had any problems with it. Heck since then my DIL has retrieved all my bookmarks from old format and printed them out for me. So I'm a happy camper.

we go in 'waves'...not spending as much time on the computer- busy- vacations, family stuff, activities---then we have (nothing to do but play on the computer) times-and spend lots of time here- it's nothing to be concerned about...it's like video games- get a new one-spend hours every day playing- the novelty wears off- then you find you turn it on less & less-until you've gone a week or so without even thinking about it- then a rainy/snowy day comes along & you spend the whole day again....
this time of year people are trying to get things done- so the holidays are enjoyable/stress free- |
I know that I am here just as much as ever.
|
I been busy with a charity quilt. I finished that and made a couple Ipad stands, phone stands too for Christmas gifts ( I love these). Making little things, some scarves for gifts. Made some out of minky which is oh so nice. This morning early, I made a cup cozy using minky, which was on my todo list. Lot's of little things I want to make, everything takes time to do and it is a busy time of the year. I been watching the post wondering what people have been doing. I have simpilified my holidays and makes it much more enjoyable by making some changes.
|
I mainly get on here during the day, at work. If I finish my work I get on here. I have noticed less postings. Noticed some old members have moved on. The new board was no problem for me, just read and tried things and it all worked. Some people had a hissy fit because it was a bit different and refused to learn new ways. A lot sounded like spoiled two year olds. As I always say - the important ones will be here.
|
Im an old timer here and it is not as easy to do the basic posting of things like pictures as it used to be. I miss the old board and the simple technology it had.
But Im still here and yes it is not as busy as it was before the "improvements" |
As a relatively new member, I don't recall what the old QB was like, so I am okay with the current format. I FINALLY learned how to resize my photos so I can upload pictures to this forum. I assure you I was kicking and screamng during the learning process. Now that it is over, I am okay :D:D:D! There may not be as many postings lately becasue of the holidays...I am doing a lot of last minute stuff myself. I decided I have too much Christmas fabric and I am now making pillow cases for the family, lol.

It seems like just when we get a really interesting thread going - read one that is bringing strong opinions out about the subject- people will just back off and quit the subject. The last one we had was on whether we liked scrappy quilts or not. I like the support, but I LOVE the give and take of opinions that are heart felt on different subjects.

I'm relatively new to the board, and am learning so very much. I have posted one question and have received valuable advice.
However, I am no longer able to post. I get this message: You do not have permission to create tags. You may only use existing tags. I had a look last night and there are some others who have the same problem. If people can't post, the activity is going to go down. I'm not sure who to contact. Amh |
I did notice. Just thought everyone was too busy.
|
Still on here as much as ever but now that you say that there are a few people I haven't seen lately.

Could be that many of us are trying desperately to finish quilting some gifts that may or may not be delivered for Christmas!!! I have no fingerprints left on the left hand! |
I could say something about that but i'd get deleted again. i know i'm busy with Christmas things.
|
All my quilts (6) are out for LAquilting. so I 'm just having fun with small stuff that will not be done until later as the schedules at the LAQ are so FULL. People have really been working! I plan to make to cute owl aprons, three pillow cases and start a small Christmas Quilt and work up odds and ends to clear my space

Bonnie Hunter's new Easy Street Mystery is up and running. Might be a factor. . .
|
I have noticed that sometimes when one has a difference of opinion they can be put down a bit. It makes one hesitant to get in on the discussion. I can't manage the new format as well as the original so don't visit as often. I'm not a two year old, I am 74. Really miss some of the folks.

I've been working on this year's fireworks quilt (due next August), just got back from visiting my parents and helped with a party for my Dad's 100 birthday, add in a Thanksgiving Dinner on Sunday, with out of town family in attendance and more family visits with 3 generations this weekend, have made me be absent from the QB lately. We're going to cut a tree tomorrow. I also agree that Thanksgiving last week and all the preparations that go into hosting/helping with a dinner, take away from spending time on the QB. Add in shopping and or making gifts in the coming weeks and it'll probably be January before you see things pick up around here.

Well, since I broke my wrist and ankle, I've been on here lots more. I can't cut or sew, so this is as close to a quilting fix as i can get.

I think everyone is busy with shopping and making gifts. It is a busy time of year. I'm sure they will be back.
