Quilting/Sewing music?

What're your fave songs, types of music, or artists to listen to while you sew or quilt?

EdieClay 10-08-2012 05:08 PM

I listen to Sirius Channels 63 (Christian) and 16 (Rock Blend). Love having background music.

COYOTEMAGIC 10-08-2012 05:29 PM

When I'm cutting, absolutely nothing because I forget what I'm doing. Otherwise, good ol' rock or country. LOUD, lol

spokanequilter 10-08-2012 05:29 PM

Just about anything really.... My iPod has everything from Broadway to classical to new age to country to light rock to Christian. Lately, I've been on a Broadway kick - listened to the soundtrack from "Wicked" about ten times over the weekend... Whatever it is, I have to have some music going in the background.

Treasureit 10-08-2012 05:31 PM

I have Christian music on...sometimes radio - sometimes ipod or itunes.

Sierra 10-08-2012 05:31 PM

I listen to music from South Africa, especially the Drakensberg Boys' Choir. It has beat, jazzy, keeps me focused on fun quilting.

LadyElisabeth 10-08-2012 05:40 PM

I listen to any "Moments of Peace" CDs by Charles Suniga

Handcraftsbyjen 10-08-2012 07:44 PM

Country or Broadway....I can be loud and obnoxious while sitting alone in the house sewing when my husband is at work.

Tartan 10-08-2012 07:53 PM

I like to listen to the hum of my machine.:)

Cathy Miller -- the singing quilter http://www.singingquilter.com/ .. Love her songs!!

rush88888 10-08-2012 08:17 PM

i just listen to the machines work - mine and my partner's. we sit across from each other in our sewing room. it is time we got back in there!

Silver Needle 10-08-2012 08:23 PM

I like Christian music, classical and new age. It just depends on my mood and the type of work I'm doing.

Knitnoid 10-08-2012 08:27 PM

If I'm listening to the radio, it's classical. If I've got my CDs playing it's probably one of Rod Stewart's American Song Book cds. But most frequently it's a book on CD. Right now I'm listening to Sacrilege A Novel by S.J. Parris.

Up North 10-08-2012 08:29 PM

Usually nothing I like it quiet or else pop Gospel music.

leggz48 10-08-2012 08:30 PM

I like to listen to Big Band 30s,40s,50s or good old Rock n Roll. But I also like to turn on an old Black & White classic movie. I've seen them all so many times, I don't have to watch....I just listen!

I have a CD player, TV DVD player and satellite receiver in my sewing room, but sometimes I just crave the sound of silence. Other times it ranges from Reba, to Third Day, to Queen, to Mannheim Steamroller, to Celtic Woman to Billie Holiday. I love nearly all music (except heavy metal and rap) I think it depends on what I'm sewing, and how much of a hurry Im in, or maybe just my mood.

cad_queen_2000 10-08-2012 09:03 PM

Ooooh, classic rock all the way... The Boss, Thorogood, Frampton, Segar, Deep Purple, Stewart, Jagger, et al.

mhansen6 10-09-2012 05:16 AM

I put audio books on my ipod and listen to them. I get them free from the library. I never have time to sit and read, but quilt and listen I can do.

adnil458 10-09-2012 05:25 AM

I tape the Charlie Rose show and Tavis Smiley each weekday. So if I am quilting or embroidering, the volume is cranked up. Piecing not so much. This gives me a taste of the world outside my sewing room. Otherwise, smooth jazz or country.

mimiknoxtaylor 10-10-2012 03:47 AM

Usually if I have music on I'm listening to Pandora=vocal standards, or Somebody loves somebody and sometimes Addictedtoradio.com and pick the 50s decade

Cindy60545 10-10-2012 04:23 AM

It depends on what I'm doing. If I'm piecing, I will usually have the tv on in the background. If I'm on the longarm it depends on whether it's a tedious piece or a simple piece. Tedious, I'll put some Rod Stewart of Kenny G on. If it's something simple I'll put Margaritaville on the XM & dance with my machine to that Carribbean beat!

lovelyl 10-10-2012 04:43 AM

104.3 FM K-Love radio!

DebbE 10-10-2012 05:03 AM

Had to jot some of the choices shown to check 'em out! I listen to everything from Big Band era, to Sinatra, Martin, Rosemary Clooney, 50's, Michael Buble, James Taylor, Crosby Stills & Nash, Christian music, and John Williamson (Australian).

jitkaau 10-10-2012 05:15 AM

I like silence...sometimes visitors comment on how quiet it is and look at me weirdly when I say I like it that way. Lots of people feel the loss of 'background music' I think. However, I prefer silence.

purplefiend 10-10-2012 07:32 AM

Cathy Miller the singing quilter's music is my favorite. Also 105.9fm christian rock music. Elton John and the Beatles.

LindaJR 10-10-2012 07:51 AM

I listen to books on tape/CD or have tv on.

Landers 10-10-2012 09:37 AM

I listen to the TV and then sometimes have to run to it to see what happened.
