It is now raining in central Indiana

donnajean 08-20-2011 02:04 PM

We have gotten 14" so far for August, breaking an all time record for amount of rain in total month of August. I think I can see my grass growing & don't know when I can cut as rain continues tomorrow.

collady 08-20-2011 02:24 PM

I know a lot of folks in Oklahoma and Texas who would love for you to send some rain their way! Glad you are getting some. We got rain a couple of mornings this past week, but are still very low.

Painiacs 08-20-2011 02:28 PM

23+ days of continuous 100+ weather - so ready for it to cool down, but hey this is Houston, we have summer, summer, and more summer anymore.

luv-e 08-20-2011 03:08 PM

Happy Dance for you!!!!

leatheflea 08-20-2011 03:22 PM

Just south of you about an hour, no rain here! We've not had any measurable rain in over a month. It sprinkled last saturday while it poured all over indiana. Our pond is down about 2ft.

boxerlady 08-20-2011 03:31 PM

We sure need it here!

craftybear 08-20-2011 05:01 PM

was just a gentle rain at our house, but about 30 miles south of us had 2 inches of rain and hail

Things are finally greening up here Craftybear. We've been lucky too, none of the weather has included hail or tornadoes. Had enough of that last spring.

islandboundquilting 08-21-2011 09:15 AM

We just got over 8" in the last 24 hours, I am sooo tired of rain. I think we have had over 70 inches so far this year. I guess thats what we get living in a rain forest. No summer this year, maybe next year. I don't think the temp. has been over 65 all summer. Oh well, its still a great place to live.

Abby'smom 08-21-2011 09:31 AM

congrats -- we in my area are still waiting for our turn!

karenpatrick 08-21-2011 10:25 AM

We haven't had a drop of rain where i live in Parke County, IN in over 2 months. Same as last summer. I'm ready for this summer to be over.

grannypat7925 08-21-2011 10:43 AM

Looking like rain here but only a sprinkle so far.

bloomin'Iris 08-21-2011 11:14 AM

RAIN!!! We're getting it now, woohoo. Hope it lasts awhile
Happy rain dance going on now, wishing to share & hope it spreads to all in need

10 mins, :| better than nothin

Psychomomquilter 08-21-2011 02:21 PM

We have had a lot of expectations of rain but only get a lot of wind, thunder, occasional lightening and maybe 5 minutes of rain and then it's over.

It's been hot and dry here but we do get an occasional 5, maybe 10 minutes of rain but I really feel for you all out there. Praying for rain for you.

gardnergal970 08-21-2011 03:50 PM

We got caught in a shower at a Steam Threshing show which was very refreshing and got home to Covington to find we had had only a slight sprinkle. Glad for what we had but would like much more.

Alice Woodhull 08-21-2011 03:58 PM

We had enough to almost cover the sidewalk awhile ago. It's all around us, but not here. Hubby is back watering the garden again. If he didn't do ;that, it would be dried up now. Instead, with his watering, I have 4 or 5 buckets of tomatoes waiting for me to can tomorrow. I've already canned nearly 100 quarts of juice, whole, pizza sauce, salsa, etc. No quilting for me until frost.

islandboundquilting 08-21-2011 04:45 PM

Wow Alice, can I come to your house? I have 4 puny little tomatoe pants, lots of tomatoes but they are as green as can be!!! They are on mt deck under visqueen, not much hope! Fresh tomatoes to me is heaven. I guess I might have to move.

n2stitches 08-21-2011 06:01 PM

Received over 3" in two days in Independence, MO. Would love to send it to Texas, but I'm not God. I will pray instead.

penski 08-21-2011 06:40 PM

yipeeeeeeeeee send us some of that rain to central Illinois !!!
i will be waiting for it to rain

Psychomomquilter 08-22-2011 09:57 AM

and got a bit last night, oh was sooooo cool too. lightening & thunder, just got the ground wet enough to evaporate before daylight. but it was a relief from heat.

BarbaraSue 08-22-2011 07:05 PM

we had some wind, mostly rain. yea Happy dance!!

You are so so right. we had a tad of rain week before last making us a grand total since last Sept of 7/100 of an inch. WE had two or three days of below 100 breaking our streak of 68 straight 100 or above. But we are back at it now over 100 for 6 days I think it is. I've just given up count. WE have to live with it anyway. I know some of you who are lucky enough to get rain and are having too much at once, are getting as tired of rain as we are not having any and really hot weather.

blueangel 08-23-2011 12:45 PM

We need it here also.

Psychomomquilter 08-24-2011 05:02 AM

Now who are we gonna blame? mom nature I guess is mad, and a hurricane is coming right over Raleigh, this weekend, rain and wind.... wow!

Yeah we need the rain!! but not a hurricane!!
