Me-gifting? Sure...I recently bought myself a KitchenAid stand mixer (on sale) - I have never had one and always wanted one but would not spend the money. I decided it was an early Christmas gift from me to me. :)

DH and I decided a few years ago it was time to stop gift giving. We both have everything we need. If there is something we want, we go buy it, within reason, of course. Instead we are diverting those dollars to traveling...giving each other the 'gift of time'. I do, sometimes, re-gift things. Depends on the item and who it might be going to. I see no problem with either concept.

I really don't re-gift, but I do donate things I have rec'd and really cannot use..as far as me-gifting......all the time...at holidays one for them and two for me!!!!

Like most of you I do re-gift nice gifts that aren't my style or needed. One thing I do is attach a piece a paper to the gift telling me who gave it to me. Don't want to re-gift it to the orginal giver.

me-gifting works this way. DH used to buy me heavy unflattering clothes that were too small and/or heavy or jewelery that is very small (must remember my younger and slimmer days) so now I give him suggestions. I write what I'd like in big letters and put it with his mail, last year I got the exact scent I like. He always gets me a quiting gift card so this year I'll print in Big Letters the name of shop I like not the one that's miles and miles away and doesn't carry fabrics that I like.

To end re-gifting or returnig gifts I try to give gifts that family members like. Used to have everyone fill out a Wish List but grandkids are older now and gift cards are what they like so it will be a small personal gift with a gift card inside. We get quite a few gift cards ourselves, mostly to restaurants and we enjoy eating for 'free' for many times during the year.

How much did you spend on it? I would love one also but my family will never buy one for me. My DH has this idea that he can't get me any kitchen appliances for Chirstmas or B day presents. We have been married 22 years I know he loves me and sometimes that is what I want.

About those Kitchen Aid stand mixers. I have 2: the one I got for Christmas in 1972 when my new husband discovered I can make bread from scratch, the mixer facilitating my production, and the other one I inherited from my paternal grandmother which was purchased when Dad was a small child. Dad is now 90. All the bits and pieces for them switch and swap. Both mixers are used constantly when we are at home and one is on the road, summer traveling with us in the RV

Our daughter tried to "rescue" one from me but wound up being given her own for Christmas. She has a for fun booth at a farmer's market and bakes bread for sale. Guess what she uses.

I me-gift all the time. I can suit myself much better than DH, and he doesn't know the good places to shop--even if he was a shopper.

Isn't that the BEST thing ever!!!!

I can't think of any other mechanical or electronic device/appliance that can claim the same thing over such a long period of time.
