I've been trying different coffees and so far Gevalia and Dunkin Donuts are my favorites. BUT if you want to try flavored coffee, I love roasted hazelnut from our local Ralph's Market and it is their Private Selection brand.

My grocery stores sells coffee by the pound, so if yours does, you could just buy a small amount of several of them and find one you like. Some times I see little bags of coffee, they use ten in gift baskets. If you want really good coffee you should buy whole beans and grind just enough for your one mug.

Don't drink coffee here but on the news they said coffee makers are putting 'fiber' in the grind. So they suggested to buy the whole beans and grind them fresh to assure you get 'whole' coffee.

Thanks for replies... Janice

Dunkin-Donuts I buy the beans and grind them as I use them. It is a great coffee.

I don't really have a favorite coffee, although I drink Dunkin' Donuts iced coffee (best around) and Starbucks (different types) hot and black. I found it isn't so much as the brand of coffee you use, but how you make it. I only use a French Press (Bodum) for my hot coffee and either a Kerig or Mr. Coffee type machine for making pitchers of iced coffee. Especially important is the grind of the coffee...you need to match it to the pot type you are using. Different pots use different grinds. Best thing to do is buy whole bean and grind it yourself, a pot (or cup) at a time. Whole beans stay fresh longer than preground coffee.

I don't drink flavored coffee, but my DD does and she highly recommends "Jamaican Me Crazy" a caramel/vanilla flavored coffee by Joffrey Coffee (they have a website). The best flavored coffees are the ones that have the flavor "roasted" into them, not added later. (DD works for Teavana a subsidiary of Starbucks).

Just my opinions...everyone, wake up and smell the coffee! Yum...one of THE best smells ever in my opinion!

Gevalia is good but I would opt for any local coffee bean roaster. It doesn't get fresher than that and they can usually help in getting the flavor and strength you want. I also find it much less acidic.

of the brands and types i can afford, i prefer [walmart's] Great Value Dark Roast.
if they are out, second choice is GV Colombian.
third choice is Folger's Black Silk.

i will sometimes indulge in a fancy shmancy brand but have not yet found one i like any better than the GV Dark Roast.
that includes the grind-at-home whole bean types.
woe be to my budget if i ever do. LOL LOL LOL

Coffee looses its flavour over time and gets stale. That happens MUCH faster with ground coffee. So to keep the flavour, buy freshly roasted whole beans (not some that have been on the shelf for already 6 months!), grind them yourselves in small portions. I'm never stocking more coffee at home than what I can drink in about a month.
