I just finished a book written by Dean Koontz about the dog he and his wife adopted. Totally enjoyed it through the smiles and tears. It's called "a big little life". It was published in 2009.

Sounds like a good book!

The best story I've ever heard about a dog goes like this.

A lady ask her dog to tell her a story. The dog says:
Once upon a time a lady had a dog. The end.

If you are a dog person, the story makes a lot of sense.

Yes it does.

Call me dumb, but I'm a dog person and I'm not getting it...Make me smart...

I just read on about search & rescue dogs-non-fiction. It is truely amazing what goes into the work, and how much of a team the dog & handler become.

My DH was a K-9 officer for many years his partner was a member of our family. I think Cole read minds he knew just what we all wanted or needed before we did, DH said he was the best partner he ever had. It is still hurts when we talk about him and he has been gone for over 10 years.

This one sounds like a tear-jerker, sort of along the lines of "Marley and Me"...I can't read those type books, cause all I can think is what it will be like when it happens to MY dog :(

But, for what it's worth, Koontz also has a book called "Watchers"...it's one of my absolute favorites. Parts of it are sort of gory, but the gist of a the book is that a lab has made two dogs, one a horrible monster, (where the gory parts come into play), and the other is one that the owners are actually able to teach the dog to communicate...

I guess that one speaks to me cause I'd REALLY like to know what my dog is thinking most the time :)

Koontz is my most favorite author. Love his work. That was a fantastic book.
