Recommendations needed for bonding Velcro to nylon luggage
 

Hello,
I'm looking for some suggestions on what product we could use to bond Velcro to nylon luggage (snowmobile bags).
Heat and Bond Ultrabond doesn't do it, it won't bond to the weave of the luggage without almost scorching the nylon. And it certainly won't bond the Velcro to it.
I suspect we would find the same result from the Pellon equivalent.
It sticks enough to make a mess where it sticks partially to the nylon, but not enough to let the Velcro stick to it.
Unfortunately, the location does not allow for sewing the Velcro on.
Has anyone here had any success with a Gorilla Glue type product? If so, which one?
Are there any other types of adhesive we could try?
What we're trying to accomplish is to apply Velcro to two different pieces of luggage so they will attach to each other.
Any and all suggestions welcomed!

I have often wondered the same thing. So far I haven't found anything. I end up hand-sewing it on. I'll be interested to hear if anyone else has found anything! I make little pocket pouches and use Velcro closures.

I don't know of any way other than to sew the Velcro on. Use an upholstery needle, or take the luggage to a shoe repair shop and have them stitch it for you.

Have you tried superglue? Or perhaps some type of epoxy glue? They would be my only suggestions beyond what you've already tried.

You can buy Velcro here in Ontario with adhesive on the backing.
Thus, no need to sew or add extra glue.
There are two different "strengths" of the glue backings.
One, is super-sticky and might work for your intended use.

Depending on how often the two strips of velcro are separated, the strips may free themselves from what they are adhered to. Simple enough, the old could be removed along with any sticky residue. Then new strip(s) put back on.

Neither of these will work, the adhesive won't last more than one or two times. But thanks for thinking to suggest it.

I can hand sew it on, but need DH help due to arthritis. He doesn't want to hand sew it on. Due to position of the Velcro on the luggage, there is no way to get the sewing machine needle to where it needs to be sewn. We've tried! But thanks for thinking outside the box.

A shoe repair shop will have a "boot machine" they may be able to sew it on. A luggage shop. Or leather glue can glue things nothing else will.

If you get the heavy duty stuff that is high on stick and extra wide, I think you may be pleasantly surprised.
It's worth a try.
