I think it will look gorgeous in various colors! Go for it and enjoy creating it.

It's hand embroidery, and it's a pattern by Rosalie Quinlan called "Christmas Treasures Wreath Stitchery". It seems to only come in a kit (which includes a pre-printed panel and the embroidery floss) for about $25. I'm still looking, hoping to find just the pattern for sale somewhere.

It's "just" hand embroidery. The only thing making it redwork is that you use only the red embroidery thread.

This would be cute in multiple colors.

PS - I'm using "just" as a description; I am not putting down embroidery in general.

I suggest you then make it in full color (smile). It is gorgeous and will be beautiful no matter which way you go. Please post a pic when you are done. Thanks for sharing.

Kudos for "just" hand embroidery. I have to use a machine for embroidery.

I bet you could draft one with the original for inspiration--it would be your own one-of-a-kind. I'm NOT suggesting you pirate the original. Begin with a circle and make templates for repeated elements. Evergreen twigs could work, little pine cones, candy canes. Select your own cookie/ornament patterns. If you have Christmas Cookie cutters they work great. The bow might even be nice as an appliqued real ribbon. Draw in pencil, beginning with the largest elements, and fill in with your selected repeats. Finish with permanent marker, flip and redraw with heat transfer pencil and iron onto nice linen fabric. Now I want to make one.

I did some "redwork" in colors and love it. Go for it. you're aiming to make yourself happy, not make the quilt police happy.
