Retiring !

and moving to Idaho this weekend. I am excited, will seem really weird not having to get up for work, BUT there will be oodles of time for quilting. Will be off the grid until I can get hooked up again.

FURBALLS 04-22-2013 02:51 PM

Oops

Are you moving nearer family? Other than quilting what are you looking forward to doing in your new life? I've never been to Idaho but I hear it's beautiful; will you be near mountains? Enjoy! And congrats!

Enjoy your retirement! It is a wonderful life. I retired just a little over a year ago and certainly have no regrets. I keep so busy all the time - it amazes me how much I get done now. So much nicer to be able to work on a project til it's done instead of having it drag out forever because one runs out of time.

Mariposa 04-22-2013 08:42 PM

Congrats on retiring! Do let us know when you are settled in. :)

ohstr 04-23-2013 04:58 AM

Congratulations on your retirement - it is wonderful - Enjoy every minute..

LynnVT 04-23-2013 05:02 AM

Good for you! Next Tuesday is the second anniversary of my last day at work, and I have never gotten up with the thought, "I wish I could go to work and sit in a cubicle and fuss with spreadsheets all day!" Your new life is beginning; hope you enjoy every moment of it!

Nanaof4 04-23-2013 05:27 AM

Lucky you! Enjoy your time, you deserve it.

SouthPStitches 04-23-2013 05:35 AM

Congratulations. It is a very sweet time in your life. I retired just last year at 59. For the most part it has felt like the happiest time of my life. Having your own time is the most wonderful feeling.

Jingle 04-23-2013 09:11 AM

Enjoy your retirement. I retired for a year in 2010. In 2011 I decided to go back to work, I work for my Husband and with our two oldest kids. Much different than working for someone else. Extra spending money is nice too.

stablemom 04-23-2013 08:43 PM

Good for you!

Grandma Peg 04-23-2013 08:46 PM

We finally retired and we are having so much fun we wonder how we ever had time to go to work! Love it!

solstice3 04-24-2013 06:05 AM

Found a really nice quilt shop not too far from coeur d'alene

tessagin 04-24-2013 06:36 AM

Have fun. One thing for sure the quilts will keep you warm!

gramquilter2 04-24-2013 07:07 AM

Retirement is great, you will find that you are busier than ever.

maryfrang 04-24-2013 07:14 AM

Don't be surprise, but you may not have as much time for quilting as you think. I thought the same thing, all the fun stuff I will have time to do. Well, I don't see where I found time to work, I am so busy doing everything including quilting that I am sooooo, busy. At times, I think going to work has more time to rest. Enjoy and do what you want, just do what you want to do and ENJOY ENJOY

llong0233 04-24-2013 09:17 AM

Congratulations. You earned it. You deserve it. Time will fly so don't put off your favorite, fun things to do! Enjoy.

You've got that right!!! I love being able to sew without interruption. I have a pile of quilts for homeless families in my living room that is at least 22 quilts high, and I finish more all the time. It is so nice, after all those stressful and busy years of working, to be able to sew whenever I want to! I am also glad I got most of my supplies and fabric when I was working and had the money.

Cagey 04-24-2013 10:17 AM

Congratulations on your retirement. I'm retiring in 3 mos. and 28 days (calendar days) so I know what you mean about the days being weird. I can't wait. Enjoy your leisure mornings.

gramacheri 04-24-2013 10:30 AM

Congratulations and ENJOY!!! Happy moving day. Remember that once you get settled, come back and let us know how it all went.

BellaBoo 04-24-2013 12:04 PM

I retired at age 48. I was fully vested and had a pension so did I want to keep working just to pay higher taxes or stay home and do what I wanted? I gave my two week notice on Monday and never went back on Tuesday. I told DH I retired he said I just quit. LOL I am busier now then when I was working and so much happier. Won't be long I can apply for SS and that will go into my quilting budget!

carolynjo 04-24-2013 12:06 PM

Enjoy every moment of your new life.

JoanneS 04-24-2013 01:52 PM

Wow! Congratulations. Pretty soon you'll be like the rest of us ol' retired folks who wonder how we ever had time to WORK!

caspharm 04-24-2013 05:26 PM

francie yuhas 04-24-2013 07:50 PM

Congratulations! I retired a few weeks ago: every day feels like Sunday and being on permanent vacation. I love pushing the " delete" button when e-mails from my former workplace come.( they still hope I 'll be back)

FURBALLS 04-25-2013 05:42 AM

On my retirement

Thanks for all the encouragement. I have today and 1/2 day tomarrow. Will be leaving on Sat morning. I will get back to the board and let you all know how things went as soon as I get the internet back. Will probably have to go with satelite. Can't wait to get settled in as I have had my quilting packed up for the last 2 months. I am in withdrawl. Did spend money while I still had it to get more quilting stuff AND a couple of sewing machines. I now have 10. My husband found me a sewing box that was made in Norway and is all wood and in new condition. It opens up and has lots of drawers for stuff. Best part is he only paid $5 for it at the thrift shop.

Greenheron 04-25-2013 11:42 AM

One of the greatest pleasures of my retirement is............staying in bed when it's zero and snowing instead of getting ready to get to the job. May you have many new pleasures in Idaho.

BCM 04-28-2013 05:23 PM

Go Girl! Enjoy yourself! Since retirement, I have found I over commit myself to projects.
