I made this with 1 fat qtr...no cutting required...sew inside out - fill with rice and your favorite tea herbs. sew opening. Heat for 2-3 mins. in microwave. Throw on feet and enjoy...ohhhh so warm.
I will sew together scraps and sew them into rice pillows for gifts. my feet are buried in there... |

wonder if I could put batting in the microwave so that I can quilt them
|
we make ours with double layers of muslin- then make a removeable cover (case) for them so the rice bag part can be taken out and the cover washed. my granddaughter's are flannel- they love them- their warm snuggle hugs when they need a little comfort
as long as you use 100% cotton batting- a poly blend would melt in the microwave.

I have a corn bag - and it has an outer removable cover that is washable and a very sturdy inner bag that contains the corn.

I'm going to stop being lazy and make a cover for them all...i will use the muslin for the first pillow...I am in heaven...my feet are so warm...I love this rice pillow. Thinking I could practice making some blocks for the outer layer

I use towel material (doubled) on one side and flannel on other pillowcase style, with rice/corn on inside muslin bag. That way if to hot use towel side then as cools flip over to flannel side. case can be removed and washed.

That is very clever. These would make nice gifts. Thank you for sharing.

Great gift idea.

Was given a corn bag. The corn is encased in muslin that you nuke for 2 minutes. You then slip it into a separate fuzzy flannel sleeve. Many years of wonderful comfort
