I try to save boxes for re-use because I don't like to spend the money to buy new ones. (To the accompaniment of a lot of background static from DH and DS)

Why is it that the boxes on hand are hardly ever the right size?

They are usually the wrong size because It inspires us to be creative and figure out how to cut them down to the right size you need. Or Murphy Law, which ever you prefer.
