Rivera Bag

Was wondering if anyone here has made this bag? My daughter wants me to make her a bag that has stability to it so it will stand up. I have been reading through the pattern and it says to use the fleece through out except for the bottom. How would it look or turn out if I were to use the peltex instead? Would it make it too stiff?

And also was thinking of adding to it to make it taller by about 1 1/2 to 2 inches. Would that throw it off also. She likes big bags aND with pockets.

I have that pattern and fabric for it but haven't made it yet. If she wants it to stand up good, I would use the soft and stable which is expensive and I have never used it or the foam stuff that Joann's has. I have used that and it does a really nice job. You can also use headliner fabric from Joann's. That might be a bit thinner than the foam.

I use polyester felt from Joann's to add body and shape to my purses, wheelchair bags etc. Works great and is reasonably priced. It is washable and does not shrink.

You can also use the plastic that is used for yarn sorry don't know the correct name, their are also the boards for handbags or if you know someone who can cut, you can use 2 layers of cord board. When I make my tote bags I use Shape Flex on both the outer and inter fabric, fleece interfacing iron-on attached to the outer fabric and, utility fabric and then quilt. This works for me that I don't need to put anything else in the bottom it stands up and strong.

Making this rivera bag would I need to do any kind of quitting to the bag?

What about putting fleece for the lining in the inside pockets? As this pattern doesn't call for it.
