well the 2 babies are too big for the mom and dad to sit on the nest so I was able to get this great picture
the story is we had a robbin make a nest in our weeping cherry tree in our front yard. After the babies left the nest a pair of morning doves took it over and layed some eggs and this is what we have so far morning/turtle doves 8/12/11 [ATTACH=CONFIG]240738[/ATTACH] last week [ATTACH=CONFIG]240739[/ATTACH] 3 weeks ago, she must have layed another egg after I took the pic or we have TWINS [ATTACH=CONFIG]240740[/ATTACH] robbins eggs in may I think [ATTACH=CONFIG]240742[/ATTACH] |

That is interesting! All the mourning dove nests I have ever seen are almost flat and made with pretty big twigs. Their call is one of the things I miss most about the South.

they look a bit crowded in there but so cute.
the doves here make a horrid racket when landing in trees. then they do their lovely coo, coo. wonder why the noise on landings. to scare any other birds in their way out of their path? |

Southern mourning dove coos....a special sound every day! They are such peaceful things. :-)
