Roku - what's for fav movie channel?
For Christmas, DH and I agreed not to buy each other presents. However, while shopping for DS, we did decide to purchase a Roku "just for us"...lol. We heard about it from DS and his GF, so we thought we'd give it a try. We have a month free with Netflix and 2 months of Hulu, so we have time to play, but I'd love to hear from other Roku users which movie channel(s) they think are the best and why. I think at the end of the day, we'd prefer to subscribe to only one.
Looking forward to your responses! |
I use Netflix and Amazon Prime more then Hulu. Hulu is confusing to me to find the shows. Netflix doesn't have the newest releases but all the older movies are there. Amazon Prime has more of the newer movies and is faster to load and never stops to retrieve. I love the Masterpiece British production made for tv movies. DH has prime movie channels on his tv and I can subscribe to get HBO to Go on Roku for free. On the Roku site you can see all the channels you can add to show on you selection. It's much cheaper then cable even if you pay for several subscriptions.

We have Direct TV and no access to any cable since we are so far out in the country. In March DH Special Football subscription is over and we are thinking about changing our Direct TV from taking everything they offer to the least they offer. We have Netflicks now and like it a lot- seldom if ever look at all the prime movie channels that we have on Direct TV. We have been thinking of adding Roku. We need closed captioning. Can you get it with Roku?

We have Netflix but we are switching to Amazon Prime. The price of Amazon Prime is better, and you get other perks through Amazon ( free shipping and free book downloads).

We treated ourselves to Roku but I haven't tried it yet. We've been busy. It will be interesting to monitor this thread. As of now, we have extended basic cable to TV, high speed internet, and phone via cable. I enjoy the wifi within our home!

I really like the benefits of Amazon Prime. I have the Kindle Fire and DH has a Kindle Keyboard and we have to have separate accounts for each Kindle but we buy items and watch Roku with Amazon Prime on one account. DH won't give up his cable tv so the network shows are available to watch if I want to.
