A room to call my own...

Yippie, I finally got my own room for sewing.... I got the back room in the garage.. The garage is not attached to the house but I do not care... it is a 12x12 room with its own door entrance and window.. Now I just need to clear it out and get it ready... oh before and after pictures are a must.............. one wall needs sheet rock, so off to home depot I am going this weekend............. the floor is a wooden( It will be repainted as a large quilt square ) mine, mine, mine, all mine...................

Way to go! Be sure to keep us posted as you get it ready for some wonderful quilting time!

I finally won! ha ha ha, the garage will all be mine in no time... ( ok, it was a good idea to take over... )

BellaBoo 04-26-2013 06:13 AM

Congratulations! I know the room will be charming! Sad so many wives and moms put their wants last on the family 'list of want' priorities. I'll be last when it comes to need if necessary but never last on the want list.

Our oldest Granddaughter was leaving with us for the last almost 8 years. She moved out and I took the room. I now have a large sewing room that works perfectly for me. Two large closets for my fabrics on wire shelving.
Good for you to get a room of your own.

Congratulations! Always great to have your own space. Men have a man cave.

I have my own tools so I don't have to ask DH for the drill or anything. he misplaces and asks for mine. I help him look for his. he would lose mine also.

Good for you! Enjoy.

A room of ones own. How wonderful. I once had my sewing room in the garage and walked to it every day. A nice ritual, opening and working in my own place, closing and walking to the house in the dead of night! I put bead board on the ceiling and painted it purple with cream walls. I loved it. You will too.
peace

Is it insulated? Man how great is having your own space going to be!

Sewfine 04-28-2013 05:23 AM

Whooray for you. I have my own sewing room for years, but definitely in need of organization.

helenhiwater 04-28-2013 05:55 AM

You are doing your own drywall and painting, right? Be proud of yourself as supermachowoman!!

Iraxy 04-28-2013 02:10 PM

Better to get your own space fast than to do like me and agree to wait. Still waiting.

Won't you have a wonderful time in your new room! You will be able to organize it however you want - it will give you hours of pleasure!

girliegirl 04-30-2013 05:54 AM

oh yes I am going to do it all.. I already started it! if I can hang sheet rock in the house, and spackle the garage will do just fine.

Wonderful! Does it have heat? Can you get a small fridge for your Coca-Cola? I hope you will show a picture of the floor when you get it done. A terrific idea to paint it as a block.
