Message to jmoore, I use on package of the precut batting and that package was 2 1/2 x 50 yds. They are not easy to make.

My rug is not flat as it should be yet. I have to press it some more. You have to keep taking it of the machine and pressing it every 2 or 3 rounds. My iron is not not enough. thanks for all the nice comments. It is a little intimidating at first however when I do the next one it will be better. All my strips were left overs or in other words scraps. I did not measure them and had a few left and when I ran out of batting then I was done.

You did a great job! I don't have the courage yet to do one - but will some day. Maybe.

Very pretty rug, great colors.

Sewingsuz, your rug came out awesome. I love the fabric colors. You go girl. I hope you enjoyed and want to try another one sometime.

Sewingsuz- it came out great!! You always do such nice work.
|
Nicely made! I see that part is a single stitch and some is zig-zag. Is there a reason for this? Since I have never tackled a rug I am just curious?
|
Juliasb, When you sew the batting in your strips you use a straight stitch and when you are finished and roll all the two 1/2 inch strips up in a ball. You then start you rug by zig zagging the strips together. The first two rounds are difficult to turn a sharp turn and sew together You are butting one row up against the other while you zig zag. I hope this is some what clear to you.

Yours turned out great. I have my strips and the batting ready to go. Hope it works for me.
