Safest way to iron chiffon, polyester or rayon?

Anybody have suggestions on how to iron chiffon, polyester, or rayon to avoid burning the material?

I think steaming them would be the safest way to get wrinkles out.

Try scraps first. Use the temperatures recommended on your iron. Usijg a damp pressing cloth will minimoze scorching.

I would use a test scrap but on a very low temperature setting. Easy to scorch.

The Euro iron that is demonstrated at many shows will not burn any material. In their demonstration it doesn't even pop an inflated ballon. I love mine.

I have this iron as well and love it also. I still think, even with this iron, I would use a pressing cloth (just a thin, extra piece of fabric) on top of those fabrics.

If one does not have a "real" pressing cloth, a piece of washed cotton muslin or part of an old cotton sheet works well.

Basically, something that one can dampen that is a barrier between the iron and the piece that is to be pressed.

However, if the fabrics are piled - especially something like rayon velvet - a special pressing cloth is required.

I use a press cloth, parchment paper or even brown paper bags with low heat for delicate fabrics. Also the used paper from fusible web works well.

You can buy them cheaper at a show.
