I lucked out. Had electric within 24 hours. Still have no heat, or hot water, and got cable back last night.. As for my offices.. That is another story. One in valley stream is functional, and Far Rock might never be.. My staff is split. Some got nothing, and the others are still pumping out.. I don't have a clue where I will be going, as I only have 1/4 tank.. Life is still good..

We got hit hard in Brooklyn (Canarsie). Jamaica Bay basically surged up to our house. Within minutes, we got 3 feet of water on the first floor, which is my in-laws apt. It's been really difficult on my 83y.o. FIL who has beginning of dementia. He just can't understand why we are throwing so much stuff out. He's gonna have a really hard day tomorrow when my husband's cousin comes to start cutting our walls up to get rid of mold. I've tried to explain to him what is going to happen and why, but it's difficult for him to grasp something abstract that you can't actually see.

Please pray for my family, and our neighborhood. It's been a tough time for everyone. It's been completely overwhelming, but I feel we made a bit of progress today. Many have it much worse than us. We have electric, water, and got our heat back. We'll be a little cramped for a while with the four of us in this one apt.

Here's a picture of the outside and inside the house. Fortunately, the water drained from the street and the house that first night. Our sump pump broke, so we had to get the water from under the house pumped out.
