Yeah, but as another QB member posted... there are only 14 Saturdays till Christmas!!! :D

quiltingcandy 09-18-2014 05:26 PM

Hallmark Stores have put out a lot of their new tree decorations already. I am thrilled because every year I give one to each of my daughters and have started the tradition for my great niece and great nephew. They are so expensive it is nice to be able to buy them in stages. I understand they have more coming out in October.

Sam's club has all their christmas goodies out, sad, very sad

Stitchit123 09-19-2014 03:48 AM

I have not seen any commercials for Christmas -yet- but they have been pushing Halloween since the 3rd wk of August. I sure do miss the good old days when they use to at least wait til after Thanksgiving to push Christmas sales.

sparkys_mom 09-19-2014 04:19 AM

Then they wonder why sales don't meet expectations. They have marketed the holidays to death and they are no longer special - just another day.

Ms Kay 09-19-2014 07:25 AM

I was in SAMs club last week and they had tons of Christmas stuff out.

kydeb 09-19-2014 07:35 AM

I guess I'm old....I long for the good ole days when Christmas wasn't allowed to appear until after the Thanksgiving Day Parade!! It has gotten so commercial :-(

noahscats7 09-19-2014 10:51 AM

I've seen one for a concert here in Knoxville in Dec. All of the stores here have decorations already.

lynnie 09-19-2014 12:06 PM

I used to collect Hallmarks, Had over 200 of them, had to sell them in
a moment of desperation. That killed me.

I'm looking for "Freezemister or the Hotmister"
anyone have it and want to sell????

I would get them for 1/2 off the day after Christmas

Jingle 09-19-2014 01:19 PM

Our Sam's do not have decorations. Not seen any yet. Our stores are really playing up fall decorations and Halloween candy.
No commercials but I hope they bring back the M & M commercial with Santa, I smiled every time they aired it last year. I also love the Hershey kisses bell ringers. They can get rid of the others. Our kids and Grandkids are grown so not much fun. Our three Great Grands don't live close, Christmas isn't as much fun now.

tessagin 09-19-2014 01:34 PM

And nothing mentioned about Thanksgiving yet!

marshaKay 09-20-2014 06:15 AM

Big Lots has all the Christmas trees up and decorated already !!!!

sulyle 09-20-2014 06:27 AM

I'm not surprised. Back to school sales here started before school even ended for the last term. Last year I couldn't find a pair of shorts in August . . . in my Florida area where it was too hot to wear anything else. I was told to check back in April of the next year. What's sad is that by the time December is here and we want Christmas ornaments, etc. the Valentines Day stuff will have crowded out Christmas.

mrs. fitz 09-20-2014 01:10 PM

The ONLY Christmas commercial that makes sense this early is Radio City Christmas Spectacular/Rockettes because performances start very early November and seats sell out quickly, mostly well in advance. But the stores putting out their holiday merchandise already is crazy. There's Santa standing right next to witches and pumpkins and poor Thanksgiving is shoved aside.

mjhaess 09-22-2014 10:46 AM

The local stores are loaded with lighted tress..They will be playing Christmas carols soon..Spoils the spirit..

QUILTNMO 09-22-2014 03:35 PM

i was in sams end of aug they had xmas trees paper etc. cant we just get through summer!

BETTY62 09-22-2014 10:14 PM

Our Loews store currently has Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas decorations on their shelves. Also, it was in the high 90's here this week and they set up their display of electric fireplaces. My family laughed when I bought one. LOL

Jingle 09-23-2014 11:25 AM

Thanksgiving is ignored because it is only one day and the stores don't make much money off of it.
Money is all they (stores) care about.

lynnie 09-25-2014 10:46 AM

isn't it a shame that stores are open on Thanksgiving. It should be a national HOLIDAY.

Sparkys mom is so CORRECT !! But I LOVE the deals for shopping the day after Thanksgiving!!

Shop til you drop !!

quiltingcandy 09-25-2014 05:09 PM

Lynnie, I totally agree with you that stores should not be open on Thanksgiving. To me the only stores that should be open are pharmacies with a pharmacist working. For a long time I would boycott K-Mart because they were the first retail store to be open on Thanksgiving. It was to beat the rush of Black Friday. Makes me crazy. They would say that not everyone is Christian so people want something or somewhere to go. But Thanksgiving and the Fourth of July are 2 American Holidays totally unrelated to religion. (There are others I would include but will stop at those 2.)

My DH & DD both LOVE Christmas - so our tree goes up the day after Thanksgiving and is up until at least New Year's Day, And there is a music channel called "Sounds of the Season" which starts Christmas music on November 1st and yes it is on at our house from 11/1 to when it stops some time in January. At first I was kind of crazy but now look at it as additional thoughts of the reason for the season.

lynnie 09-25-2014 05:13 PM

MY Dh is Jewish and Haunnaka was the day after Thanksgiving last year.. we celebrate everything with a white tree and Aqua ornaments. you wouldn't believe all the pretty things I have for the tree in aqua. Unbelievable. Even little 6 pointed stars.
If people need something to do on Thanksgiving and have to spend money, stay home and do it off of tv. Give these family's a break too so everyone can be around the table for the turkey.
