I have to share because . . .

I was picking my son and his family up last Saturday at the airport after their vacation. While waiting out front for my son to load their suitcases into the van I saw a gentleman in BDU's standing at the curb. He was conversing with another gentleman that was also waiting for someone. I walked over to him and just held my hand out, not knowing if he would accept it or not. He held his hand out and shook mine. I grasped his hand in both of mine, gave his hand a squeeze, gave him a big smile, and our grasps let go. As I turned to walk away he said, "Hey". I turned and he stepped forward with his arms outstretched and gave me a big hug. With tears in my eyes I gave him the biggest bear hug I could muster and all I could say was, "Thank you for what you do". He hugged me again, smiled, and nodded. That's all it was. Plain and simple. I wish I could tell them all.

Brought tears to my eyes dear. We should all do the same every time a serviceperson is directed in our pathway.

Thank you for sharing!

We go to New Orleans at Christmas and take DH's aunts and uncles out to dinner. The oldest Uncle just turned 90 in Feb. Last year he wore his WWII Navy Vet hat to dinner. Unbelievable the nbr of ppl who came by to thank him for his service. One table of Vietnam Vets purchased desserts for our table and saluted him when they left. Just makes you feel so warm. Thank you is such a little thing but can mean so much.

Thanks for sharing. I make a point of thanking these wonderful, courageous people everytime I have the "honor" of seeing someone in the military. They need to hear that. They do an awful lot for us and some pay the ultimate price.
Your story, while making me feel nice and warm and safe, brought a tear to my eye.

Thanks for sharing. When I waitress, sometimes when a Military person would come in, another table would secretly pay their tab. I LOVED the secret smiles, and then both tables would feel SO good.

I do this every time I see a person in uniform. Makes me feel really good and they are surprised that I take the time to do this. They all need our support.
