A fe f you asked me about making these. One of my boys decided to use a coaster for a cold drink instead of a hot drink like they are supposed to. The coaster was on one of my nice antique end tables. The wet drink on the coaster activated something in the wood's finish, and ate some of it off! Be very careful if you make these, and if you have kids, I wouldn't do it.

Oh, no! I wonder what made it do that! At least your kids use coasters....guess thats why my house is decorated in shbby chic, more shabby than anything, lol!

i am so against adding any kinds of fragrance to any sewing project; especially any you plan to give away, or share in any way. if just water on your coaster is going to ruin the surface it is sitting on does this mean these can not be washed? ewwwwwww.
i have pulled packages out of my post office box that (smelled) had some sort of perfumy odor and they have gone right into the garbage at the post office, without being opened...i will not even bring them home anymore to see what it is. last summer participating in a certain swap i received a package with a piece of noxious perfumed fabric in it...15 minutes later was on the way to the hospital er with hubby in respitory distress...what one person may find pleasant, others may find noxious and deadly and evidently damaging to your furniture.

I did not give these to anyone. I made them for me in my own house.

Perhaps in stead of throwing perfumed packages in the trash, give them to somebody.

ah..nooo.. actually my post master yelled at me one time when i was picking up a smelly package, and informed me it is illegal to send noxious fumes through the mail, and i don't look good in orange jump suits so i'm not messing with the usps. i don't send that kind of stuff, and i toss it when it comes to me. sorry...
did not mean to upset you. was worried about your coasters not being able to get wet...my coasters are always getting wet, from sweating glasses or little spills would hate to think there was something in them causing ruined furniture.

Someone on here suggested putting a piece of plastic, like from an old flannel backed table cloth in the coasters. This might help with the sweating and marking furniture. (I haven't tried it so don't know if it works...)
