Well now I am curious as someone who reads a lot of threads and normally doesn't comment one way or the other. Is that perceived as rude? I surely don't want to be but, don't want to post just to post. Clarify?

Have you checked out any online directories or review sites like Angie's List or Yelp? Those can be great sources for finding local contractors and reading reviews from previous customers. In addition to using online directories and asking for recommendations, you may also want to consider conducting pre-employment screenings on potential candidates, this can now be done using public web services. This can help you ensure that the contractor you hire is licensed and has a good track record of completing projects successfully. You can also look up the contractor's license and check for any complaints or disciplinary actions on file with your state's licensing board. By doing your due diligence ahead of time, you can increase your chances of finding a reliable and qualified concrete contractor for your project.

Go with a contracting company that has been in business for some years. Independent contractors without excellent references are very iffy right now. Too many of our friends have been left with shoddy work and no show before the work was completed using independent contractors that seemed reliable. For any jobs other then simple few hour ones, call references and ask lots of question. Have everything in writing. Do not pay in cash or check. Use credit card. If contractor cannot accept card then pass.
