Sewing Baskets/ Tins

I have always loved antiques and the wondering of who owned/ loved this and when. My aunt (92 years young, non-sewer) gave my 86 years young tomorrow, mother (her sister) sewing tin to give to me. I have not seen it yet but it was an old cookie tin. I suddenly realized that my sewing basket from high school was tossed years ago and in its place I am using a heart-shaped plastic needlepoint box that I made about 50 years ago. So my question is, what do you use?https://mail.aol.com/webmail/getPart...s=IMG_0507.jpg

I use a Homer Box from Home Depot! Not very original but it works for me. :)

I have my granny’s button box and it was a cookie tin also.

I have a variety of tins, divided plastic boxes, regular plastic boxes, a wooden sewing box for the buttons and most anything else that works.

I have a Longaberger cake basket with the plastic inserts to keep things organized. I use it mostly for traveling - at home, since I have a sewing room I get things out that I need when I need them.

I have a huge sewing "basket" box that my Mom gave me years ago, but for quilting I mostly use a small case with dividers that I can tuck snips, scissors, binding clips, thread, needles, needle threader & thimble into. Thread goes into canning jars and buttons and trim into cookie tins.

I have a Shaker Box in my den for hand sewing while watching tv. In my sewing room I have baskets, tins, etc. I love old tins and baskets and I find them very useful in keeping my projects in order while I sew.

I use a two layer tackle box found in the fishing department. Bottom layer holds ruffler foot and other large items. The top holds scissors, bobbins, rulers, and clips. Each layer has clips to secure when closed.

Happy Birthday, Wannabee!
I have a very old wooden sewing box that was my Gram's. I love using it and looking at it. I used to dust for her when I was a child and don't ever remember her actually using the contents! I'm the lone sewist in my family.

Oops- Happy Birthday, Wannabee's Mom :)
