Has anyone put a zipper in Minkee??
I am trying to make a sleep sack for DGS and was wondering if anyone has any suggestions. Thanks |
Had a neighbor who sewed w/fur, said she just pushed the fuzzy to the side ?? I always wondered if some trimming was needed.... Good Luck !! Give it a shot, test a little piece, you can do it!!

I ironed thin strips of interfacing to the inside the fabric so it won't stretch as you sew.

You can also put some tissue paper on the top. I would also suggest using a walking foot.

LOTS OF PINS! LOTS AND LOTS OF PINS! LIKE EVERY INCH PINS!
MINKY IS SLIPPERY- ZIPPER TAPES ARE SLIPPERY- LOTS OF PINS AND TAKE YOUR TIME- DON'T TRY TO PUT IT IN IN A HURRY- SLOW AND STEADY WILL GET THE ZIPPER IN. good luck-- i managed to do (not too bad) using a fabric glue to hold zipper- but lots and lots of pins and slow sewing did a better job than using the glue. |
I was afraid of that -- stabilizer and lots of pins.
Thanks much for your help. |
hand baste first, then carefully sew. there is a tape you can iron on to stablize the fabric but I've never had much luck with it
