I like indoor/outdoor carpeting. Mine has a very smooth surface, it is easy to see/find pins and needles. My chair moves easily, it is very easy to clean too :D:D:D

I used to have a laminate floor in my sewing room...it was nice everything swept up easily, then we moved now I have a carpeted floor and the flooring guys said it needed to remain as carpet because of the condition of the concrete under that. We went with the tightest we could so it wouldn't have issues.

I like laminate. Easy to sweep or vacuum. Easy to find dropped pins.

I have Berber patterned carpet. My wheeled chairs move easy on it and it's sound absorbing and pretty.

At least you can find the floor right now. LOL. I Lvoe laminate too or wood but I have carpet and it works too. My chair doesn't roll though. Have fun and good luck with your choice.

Thank you for the suggestions. Each one loves what they have and you all have different floors !! Want to keep it somewhat warmer, so probably sounds like a low pile carpet is a good choice. So carpet that silver pins and needles will show up on, will blend with the living room carpet that it will be in the doorway and not show dirt !!! A tall order...

I would like to have laminate for a sewing room floor.

Check out the cork - it keeps the warmth. So do some of the thicker grade hardwoods (although neither as much as carpet).

If you want really warm ... look at some of the industrial office grade carpeting. Very low loft.

or .. a very large persian type that will cover all but the edges of the room where you dont walk anyway. Also a very low loft.

I've got a low loft berber. If I had a choice to redo it, I would choose either hard wood or cork. But warmth isn't an issue for me. If it's cold I wear socks.

Anything hard surface, so that it is easy to sweep up the threads etc. Definitely not a rug.
