All the stuffing in one of my comforters has shifted to the edges and corners of the comforter. Has happened on others also in the past. Besides throwing it out, does anyone know another solution? It's really not usable this way as it is flat in the middle and looks funny. (not ha ha ha funny , just wierd )BTW, this was a store bought comforter not one I made.

No, other than taking it completely apart, including taking out any stitching done that resembles "quilting". Can't be much if the batting completely shifted. Sorry .... hope it didn't cost you much!!

I am not sure if I am understanding right- you said stuffing not batting- is the filling mobile, or is in a sheet like batting and gone all lumpy?

If it is mobile (like feathers, or polyfill), you can just spread it out and stich some new lines right across it to trap the filling in pockets?

It the filling is all clotted up and lumpy, I'd say it would be too much work.....

If the comforter stuffing is down, then wash it and then try putting a a tennis ball in the drier with it.

This is a tip to "redistribute the feathers" that was on the tag of a down jacket I bought for my husband about 15 years ago. It worked for the jacket, but a comforter is much larger, so this may not be effective.

you could remove the large clumps of stuffing, buy a batting that fits and re-quilt it with a new batting and backing, or completely remove the back and then redo. i would try to use what is there with the stuffing removed

Thank you all for your suggestions. I knew I could count on my QB friends for help.Never thought of opening it up and either remove and replace the stuffing or spreading it out again and re-quilting it. The quilting is strange, if I could call it quilting, it is in only about 6 or 8 circles with stitching around the outside edges. Clear as mud? Not really what I would call quilting. Just pinning it down in a few places. Lumpy seems to fit the current situation. Might even remove the backing as one of you suggested, and then I could see what I am working with as "stuffing" Yes, it was pricey so I really want to try to resolve it. When I made cloth dolls I could move the stuffing around by inserting a long needle to rearrange it but this is just too large and would be way too much work.

I'd shake it out really well in the dryer first and see if that helps.
