Should I email this person?

On a different forum for a different craft, I posted my doll making idea and this one lady, who I have noticed on there before, posted a message to get in touch with her - "Please email me, I have some questions for you about your project" , then a second saying "I really need to get in touch with you ..."

You can't see anything on that MB about stats, history, ratings, member info, it's just posts.

I just can't imagine what is so important that I need to send her an email rather than her posting on the site.

Being socially awkward and internet cautious, am I being weird about this? Should I respond using my "play" email address or just address her request in the thread? What would you do?

Can you PM her?

You're right to be cautious about giving out personal information, but I can't see any harm in emailing her.

I'd reply in a thread that you prefer to correspond with people on the forum only through the forum. See what her reply is.

There is no pm there. When people want to talk private they post their email addresses.

update: I just posted to the thread for her to ask her questions there as maybe others are wondering similar things. We'll see if she responds.

I'd be wary, as well. If your curiosity gets the better of you, get a new email addy, from yahoo.com. Then send her that address. You can always delete that address, if needed.

Good move! Do not give into pressure when you do not know this person!

I'd probably respond with my 'play' email address. She/they may think the questions they have are too specific to delve into on the mb. They don't seem to be asking for your person info so using your play address, I would think, should be fine to determine what is going on.

Well, on here - in the PM's - I typed up a long reply to another PM and never heard back from this person - when I went to re-read my answer to her - I saw where it was "held up" because my reply had to many characters in it - too many words. So, I eliminated some words and resent it and it went through. From then on, we exchanged email addresses so that would not happen again. HTH

Sometimes people use forums to get emails for scams, spam, etc. You were right to keep it on the forum until you know more about her (or him.)
