I was just watching the news...and Shout color catcher got the A...You can wash all your materials/clothes at once...white and darks. They washed new Whites and darks together...it worked great!! Brillant...It will save me so much time...all clothes are going to be washed together from now on...no more separate cycles for me...

AlwaysQuilting 05-08-2011 06:01 AM

I've never used it. I'll be watching the replies you receive.
It sure would be nice to throw all clothes in together, wouldn't it?

Ramona Byrd 05-08-2011 06:05 AM

Sounds like another excellent reason to put more chemicals in our lives. One of my daughters was asthmatic and allergic to a lot of things, so we lived quite well without a lot of those "necessary" things others used for shortcuts. Got used to plain stuff and loved it. Stopped wondering years ago about if or if not we needed the latest thing.

However, I DO use it for new fabrics, I don't want to pay a lot of money for bright colors and patterns and wind up with a bunch of muddy colors.

BETTY62 05-08-2011 06:14 AM

This is great news. This will be a real time saver in my household. Thank you for sharing.

cjomomma 05-08-2011 06:26 AM

I only use them when I wash my quilts for the first couple of times because I don't prewash my fab's. they can be very costly if used in every wash.

quilter1943 05-08-2011 06:26 AM

I use it with quilts and new fabric but not on every day laundry. They have kept me from ruining a couple of quilts and well worth the money.

quiltingaz 05-08-2011 06:29 AM

I use it for washing new fabrics or quilts. As others say, not is every day laundry. They are not cheap.

tutt 05-08-2011 06:43 AM

I've used them in the laundry and they work great!

the casual quilter 05-08-2011 07:15 AM

I use them if I have two short wash loads of colors that shouldn't be washed together. I make one load and use a color catcher. I use them also when I wash hand dyed fabric. I think they are great.

genafan201 05-08-2011 07:59 AM

I saw a commercial for these yesterday and thought to myself there's no way I'd take the chance...

But, it sounds like all ya'll think they are a good thing...So, maybe I'll give it a go...Thanks everybody, cause I was wondering about this.

ptquilts 05-08-2011 08:02 AM

I have used them and been unimpressed, I do my whites separately so I can use bleach.

What I want to know is, why is the color that is so eager to leap off one fabric and land where you don't want it, so hard to get off the second fabric?

quiltpd 05-08-2011 09:46 AM

I've used them and think they are great !!

judy_68 05-08-2011 09:49 AM

Im too cheap (thifty) to pay for these.

It is a MUST for washing quilts!!!
(just be sure to put them up when you are not using them or your dh might use them as fabric softner too) :D

As for regular laundry, personaly I think they are too expensive.

lllog 05-08-2011 10:09 AM

Gee, I always throw my stuff in together. Of course I'm a man, that may be thr reason.

It is wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love red but sometimes a sweater or shirt is always going to bleed a little. Or a new pair of jeans and you don't want it to fade on the towels. Love color catchers!!!!

AlwaysQuilting 05-08-2011 10:40 AM

I found this about them--

carolaug 05-08-2011 10:49 AM

sounds like they work and for 4.00 a box. I would say its worth it...I am going to see if I can find some coupons.

If you put two small loads into one, this would make it more cost effective too. Less money on detergent, water, electricity to do only one load. So probably really good idea for small families.

loves_2_quilt 05-08-2011 11:01 AM

I use them for quilts that I didn't wash the fabric before making and those with a lot of white/light colors in them. I only use them in clothing when I am doing my father-in-law's things because I have very small loads and wash them together.

plainjane 05-08-2011 01:27 PM

I always separate the laundry, but I have several dark shirts that have white collar and cuffs and the white part doesn't look dingy when I use the Shout sheets. The sheets look really dingy! I don't think I shall be without them.

twinkle 05-08-2011 01:29 PM

I've been using these a while and find them very handy, but the other day I didn't have much washing so threw a mixed wash in with 3 shout sheets(2 had been pre-used), I hadn't realised there was a red pair of shorts in the mix which had really run, the sheets had saved all the washing, but my brand new bra, which is now a dinghy pink, typical isn't it. I'll keep using them for mixed colours, but won't chance whites in the mix again.

Mamagus 05-08-2011 01:36 PM

I am choosy about when I use them. I definitely use them on the tops and shirts that have white has an accent to the darker colours on them.I use them whenever I wash a quilt that has any bright colours. Dark jeans with hubby'sdark socks and underwear? Not a chance! :-)

PurplePassion 05-08-2011 01:51 PM

There is also a terry cloth that does the same thing. It is from Carbona, made in Germany; color grabber and is reusable for 30 wash loads. I got mine at Hancock fabrics for under $5. But have seen them at Walmart, but a different brand. I use them for every washload and when I wash my new fabrics and quilts.

Kuusistoquilter 05-08-2011 02:35 PM

I use color catchers when I don't have enough to do a full load of darks or whites. So I wash them together, I also use when washing quilts made with batiq fabric or blacks.

ann clare 05-08-2011 03:07 PM

I use them all the time.

redkimba 05-08-2011 07:34 PM

I wondered if they worked or not. I generally wash all my stuff together - I don't have enough laundry to separate out & my stuff has been washed 1,000 times already.

Carron 05-08-2011 08:37 PM

Thanks, good information

polly13 05-09-2011 03:34 AM

From the mother who used to turn my macho sons' football uniforms pink---it is the greatest!

Janebird 05-09-2011 04:24 AM

The same for me. There have been a couple of quilts saved this year. I had to search it out at the Home Hardware store though. I couldn't find it in any grocery stores or at Walmart here.

vivoaks 05-09-2011 04:29 AM

There are times I throw together darks & lights anyway, but they're all clothes that have been washed dozens of times. I ALWAYS use the color catcher when I wash new fabric - I wouldn't do it without it!

MaryAnnMc 05-09-2011 04:32 AM

I think Color Cathcers are magic!! I often cut mine in half when washing a small load, and it works fine. If only my DD had used one when she washed my tie-dyed dress with the rest of my clothes. But it's the thought that counts, right??

vtretire 05-09-2011 04:34 AM

I've used it for years. Love it.

phatquilts2 05-09-2011 04:45 AM

Practical, effective love them.

I love them, but I don't use them on every load. Only use them when I think something in the load might run. I reuse them all the time if they come out of the wash on the lighter side. Yes they're expensive, but when you need one to prevent colors from bleeding onto your other items, they are priceless.

jaciqltznok 05-09-2011 05:07 AM

read your clothing labels..not all fabric is created equal..and once washed the first time, there is very little risk of bleeding, so you can wash them together without the color catchers...work smarter, not harder and save your $$$ where you can....

sandpat 05-09-2011 05:39 AM

I love these....HOWEVER.....my DH is the proud owner of multiple pairs of pink underwear due to them. Be very careful of what you mix!

charhend 05-09-2011 06:24 AM

I don't like to prewash my fabric before quilting because it's easier for me to work with. I made a red and white quilt and used the color catchers to wash it with and the red did not bleed onto the white at all. I was instantly sold on the product.
