I was almost sick tonight. I showed a house tonight, and as we went into the garage, I was immediately drawn to a "pile of fabric"....which turned out to be a 30's something Dresden Plate quilt, hand stitched, needle turned, hand appliqued...covering a pile of wood...dirty, torn, worn....and in need of rescueing. Now, as an ethical Realtor, there was nothing I could do....funny though, the client said to me....."you truely are a quilter , I am looking at the garage doors and you are looking at fabric." Highest compliment I have ever received. I am tempted to call the POA and ask if I can have that pile of "rags" in the corner.

If it was left behind, I would call.

That makes me so sad. Think of all the time and love and hard work that was put into that quilt. It was cherished when it was made and I'm sure you would cherish it too. I really think you should call or swap it out for a sheet!
Makes me sad...

sounds great :) hope you get it

Don't you just want to go and toss the wood, pet the Quilt and strangle the owner !! Maybe not that drastic but, letting out a big wow, might have been in order...

I'd swap it for a sheet and run.....

Oh yes, do call and rescue it! Then post a picture. All quilts have a history, and you might be able to find out what it is.

How sad that, what someone has spent many hours making a quilt, the owner used it to cover wood. Should be ashamed of themselves. It is sad that all the love and hard work gone into making what could have been an heirloom has not been recognised !!

I would just replace it with something else and take it..Sounds to me they were just using it to cover the wood so they shouldn't care if there was something else to replace it? Or call and ask..Never hurts to ask

There's an awful lot of people who just don't appreciate the imagination and hard work put into a project and just think of it as "Homemade".

It's a good idea to ask if you can get rid of it since the pile of wood would look more rustic uncovered.
