Patsy, spend a little time with the machine and see how you like it. The 700 series Singers have their fans, but I'm not one of them; the earlier top-of-the-line Singers (101, 201, 301, 400s, 500s and early 600s) were built so much better. Unless you love, love, love the machine, I wouldn't recommend putting money into it. (This was me showing restraint. How did I do? I could have said that it was worth what you paid for it, but I would never do that.)

*** I was just GIFTED the same machine in a cabinet. *** Mine has the Manual, some attachments, & 2 bobbins (they are really weird looking). *** *** I have cleaned, oiled, & tested and she runs but loud. *** ***If you or any one knows where I can buy some bobbins, please let me know. *** |
You can buy the bobbins at Hobby Lobby

My late mother had a Singer Golden Touch'n'Sew...it was a gift to her from my dad. He wanted her to have the top-of-the-line model as she did a lot of sewing for us. When I learned to sew, I did my own share of sewing on that same machine. When she passed away, I inherited that machine and everything in the cabinet; my sibling thought since I had the most memories of it, I should have it. Right now it is upstairs, waiting for me to go to work on some projects. :) Patsy, once you spend some time with your gift, I'm sure you will enjoy it very much. Oh, I have also seen bobbins for these machines in Walmart. I like the fact that you can wind them right in the machine!
