I have Revere Ware and Cast Iron. That is what I have used for the last 40 yrs. and when I got my ceramic top stove, the information with it said not to use those two.
But I do. The copper pan bottoms have warped more and once in a while, will do a little jig dance while cooking. The cast iron does ok, but cant slide it off the burner, have to pick it up and move it. I get a lot of black marks on my top and don't think it is all from cooking. I think it is probably caused from using the wrong pans. |
When I need to clean my smooth top, I use lots of baking soda and elbow grease. We were told to use a spoon edge to scrape of really badly burned stuff but I do try to keep hubby from using the SOS pad - his fav method.

There are scrapers made especially for smooth cooktops. They have a wide razor on one end that retracts when not in use. You can find them at Lowe's, Sears, etc. Much safer than a plain razor blade. And by the way, you can't use cast iron pots and pans on these cooktops. They will scratch....

I have had 2 smooth top ranges and I have used my cast iron skillets on both. I must say though that I am careful not to drag the skillet on it.

glad you got your stove cleaned

The razor that came with my glass top store is in a small holder just like the window scrappers you get at the hardware store. Can't remember the name of the cream cleaner but Sears sells it. See if Sears has a web site and you should find the name of the cleaner.

I think that you can also find a smooth-top stove cleaner at Walmart
