Not to shabby for Georgia!

lynndianne 01-10-2011 07:56 AM

Not too bad for Georgia. Don't you just love the snow? I live in western N.C. and we got a little over 8 inches.

Happy Snow Day

I think it is amazing how excited some people get for a little snow. I don't take pictures of ours anymore. Because when you get 2-3 feet in a day or 2 , it isn't funny anymore.

I am in Macon GA. We only received a little snow but also some ice so no school today! I know that you girls who don't live in the south may not understand but it only takes about a 1/4 inch of ice on the roads for us to become house bound. This is giving me time to catch up on the Quilting Board! Yeah! Later I am going to put the binding on a Christmas quilt so that it will be ready for NEXT Christmas since I didn't finish it in time for this one!

I like your pics, especially the last one.
It's a good time to quilt today!

dawson.tracy35 01-10-2011 08:11 AM

I live in central arkansas and we almost never get snow! We got a little over 6 inches yesterday afternoon! Last year I complained I never saw real snow so I went on the road with hubby and I saw more snow than I ever wanted to see in my entire life! The kids love it and are out playing in it now!

amma 01-10-2011 08:13 AM

Love your pictures!! The lake looks gorgeous :D:D:D

susiequilt 01-10-2011 08:14 AM

No snow here! 77 degrees today.

Did the deer make the track in the pond picture?

lynndianne 01-10-2011 08:20 AM

I used to live in Jacksonville Arkansas and we got more ice than snow. Sometimes I would have to stop my car, get out, push the car to get it straight and then continue on.

It tickles me to read about how so many people are so excited and thrilled to have something that some of us take for granted and even dislike. It's like being around children that are getting a special treat. It's giving us the opportunity to see things through someone else's eyes.

Ya, my brother-in-law sent me pics too, from his home in Stone Mountain GA. I'm laughing, I'm in Ontario and don't have that much snow on the ground today! LOL

It is snowing here in TN and I plan to spend the afternoon sewing with my scrap stash

Beautiful winter pond scene, Should be on a Christmas card.

nwm50 01-11-2011 08:19 AM

wow.... my hubby just left for Atlanta, Ga for business and i wonder what it's like there! That pond picture is beautiful !

Lady Jane 01-11-2011 08:27 AM

Y'all enjoy that white stuff! After awhile you get real tired of it.

damaquilts 01-11-2011 02:11 PM

Glad I am not in Atlanta right now. My DD says its awful. She took my DGD back to West Georgia College Sunday evening. Took her 5 hours total. She lives about 45 minutes away.
That last photo is just yelling to be made into a quilt picture

Snow is easier to drive on than ice. So I can see where school is called off because of it. However, we have the state and county roads salted, sanded and scraped. Not sure if Georgia is equipped for it. Enjoy your day!

I'm suing for discrimination!!! Those of us right at the FL line got none.

lynndianne 01-12-2011 08:07 AM

I've got 8 inches you can have....just come pick it up.

I agree, once living in the Turtle Mtn's of ND, 8" is nothing to the 2' plus we could get. And now that I am on the "plains of the dakota's", it didn't really change, I look out our dining room doors and see atleast 2' of accumulated snow, and that's what hasn't "blown" away.

lynndianne 01-12-2011 08:17 AM

Wow, don't know how I would handle 2' of the white stuff. My husband and I were shoveling it yesterday for 2 hours (he's 74 and I'm 65)....getting too old for this.

We need to get together. There is no one in my area that quilts. I'm really glad I found this quilting board or I wouldn't have compatible conversation with anyone. Woe is me, think I'll eat a frog!

colin' s grammy 01-12-2011 09:38 AM

Oh my goodness! Colin's Grammy, your photo with the ruler in the snow gave me a shock. I have one that looks exactly like that from here in Jefferson, GA. I thought you had my photo there for a minute :)
