This is the start of a boy becomming a man of honor, be proud of him, I am. He is starting something that will change his life in so many ways for the better.
He will need many letters from home, especially during the basic training phase, make sure he gets at least one letter every day. Even if all you do is tell him your plans for the day, doing dishes, gardening, ect. Those little mundane things are what he will miss even if he does not know it yet. Handwrite them, NOT from the printer. He will want to know you handled it, took the time and was really thinking about him. One of the very best things I ever did was join the USMC, and I hope your son feels the same about the Army. |
Good luck to you and to HIM!!! I can't imagine letting my son go to do that.............but you've got to be one proud mom!

Wow, I admire all of you!! I have 3 sons, none has served in the military. Wonderful boys, into other things instead, serve people here. I'd be proud no matter what they did b/c they have huge, loving hearts :)

Remember, no matter how long he is in the military,
that is his family. No matter where he goes in the world, his family is always on call. When he is sick or injured, his military family will take care of him. Mother of ex-Army and ex-Navy sons. Keep telling him how proud of him you are. And when he gets to a base, send him goodies. I was told the military fed them well, but was short on sweets? and junk foods. (I kept them short at home, but this was after they grew up!!) |
