Our youngest son is getting married the end of September. Does anyone have a suggestion for a song for the 2 of us to dance to at the reception? In our neck of the woods, it's traditional for the groom and his mother to dance together for one dance. All I can think of is "Sunrise, Sunset" from Fiddler on the Roof. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

How about "Wind beneath my wings"?

Actually, I do a lot of wedding cakes and there are a lot of good songs for this. I think Boyz 2 Men has a song called "For my Mother" or some such thing. It's really a lovely song.

I was at a wedding once where the Bride & her Dad danced to Bob Seeger's "Like a Rock". Seems like an unusual selection, I know, but the DJ told everyone to "listen carefully to the lyrics" and it really was a perfect choice. If I could remember the lyrics I'd tell you, but you can go online and get them.

There's also a lot of good songs from Broadway musicals, and don't forget to check out country music lyrics. You'll find something, and it will be just PERFECT. Congratulations!

Il Divo has a song I think is perfect. It is called "Mama" from their original album Il Divo. It is the song I would choose if my son were to marry. What an honor to dance with him.

Not only is it a good one for dancing, it is a sweet song about the love of a mother and the sacrifices made to raise a son. Perfect I think.

I danced with my dad to Paul Anka's The Times of Your Life. Everytime I hear it I still break up.

I found one for my son's wedding next June I have to look it up tho/ I'll be back!!

It is called The man you"ve become by Molly Pusutti It makes me cry!! It starts out Big wheels, Hot Wheels Little Trucks and cars. Skinned knees, climbin trees, wishing on the stars Moments may be lost, somewhere in time but the sweetest memories are never left behind. Now you've grown so fine and come so far. I am so proud of who you are the Man you've become. Thrilled to share your deepest Joy To know you've found the one. For the Great things you will do. I'll be blest because you are my son But I will always see the boy in the Man you've become.....

When Nick was little, we would sit on the porch and I would sing a medley of songs for him including "I've been working on the Railroad", "Boom,Boom, Ain't It Great to be Crazy", and "My Gal's A Corker". We loved those songs, but not sure if they'd work at the reception. I'm getting lots of good suggestions and I will check them all out. Thanks to everyone for your help.

Well when my dd decides to get married that is the song for the daddy daughter dance. The kids cherish this song! When we all hear it on the radio we all start singing! It's great!!! dd is 20...ds is16.
