I went to my monthly sew-in with the girls on Saturday and had forgotten to measure my DS's bedroom window; one of my projects was a valance. So I called home and had DH measure.

The valence is 6 INCHES TOO NARROW! Home dec fabric (not cheap!) and my time - WASTED!

He wanted to know if I could just "add on", seriously?
Couldn't I use the valance somewhere else? Really, what other rooms do we have that are GREEN? And all of our windows are the SAME SIZE.

I'm sure thee are "other" measurements that he would NEVER get wrong - the ones that are important to him.

Men. Can't live with em, pass the bear nuts!

I would be willing to bet that when he measured the window that's exactly what he did, not including any of the trim around the window or the length of the curtain rod or anything we know is part of the process!

Just had a thought - could you add a solid color flange border?

My DH couldn't measure when I married him. When we were getting married and fixing up a farm house, he was supposed to measure the kitchen floor for linoleum (this was 49 years ago.) He rounded everything to the nearest foot!! So the linoleum was 6 inches too narrow. Now he is pretty good. I've taught him a few things over the years. LOL

That's okay. After plenty of mistakes putting siding on our house, we realized my stepdad is dysflexic (sp?). Anyhow, everything is backwards to him. So when we'd ask for 8 1/4 for example, he'd give us 4 1/8. We finally had him stop doing any measuring and cutting and for Christmas, we found a tape measure that has a recorder in it, so when you say the amount, it plays it back to you.

My husband is a very talented woodcarver and can create beautiful works of art out of tiny pieces of wood. I never ask him to measure a 2x4 or cut floor tiles because nothing would ever fit or be level. Tape measures are extremely complicated tools I guess.
