I have been losing weight for health reasons. Maybe we could support each other on here with tips and recipes.
Here is a tip for you. Get your salad dressing on the side. Dip the tines of your fork in the dressing and then spear your salad. The last thing your tongue will taste will be the dressing. It tastes like you poured salad dressing all over the salad without all the calories. Cauliflower that even teens will eat. Remove green parts, keeping the head whole. Wrap the head completely with paper towels. Stick the towel covered cauliflower under running water. Place the head in a microwave proof bowl. Microwave on high for 10 minutes. Remove paper towel. Leave head in bowl. Next, mix together 1/2 cup low fat mayo (I use olive oil mayo) 2 Tablespoons spicy mustard 1 teaspoon onion powder spread mixture over the head of cauliflower. Pat low fat cheese into the mixture covering the cauliflower. Use whatever cheese you like. Note: Weight Watchers cheese did not work well. Put back in microwave until cheese melts. YUMMY! Even better the next day. Don't forget to exercise. Just walk! and not to the fridge!:) |
South Beach diet? support via web or PM? Count me in!
It worked for me once. |
I wonder what the easiest way to do this would be? Would we be able to do something on here? A team would be nice!
I just threw all sugar-related items and junk food in the outside trash bin. Wait until my kids find out! |
thank you. I have never tried Weight Watchers. I would rather not pay for a program because when I stuck to it, the South Beach was very healthy and I lost a lot of weight pretty quickly.
I have kept off the fifteen I lost for good, but fifteen more needs to go. I have developed heart issues, and I need to get in shape! |

Me too! I've lost 54 pounds and need to lose that much more. I am half way there. |
I am another one that really needs to lose maybe 30 lbs. My knee is so bad, high bp and a few other things. I live in South Dakota. I can walk some mornings, but some days I can't . I need something. 30 lbs would really help me. Once I lost 25 lbs on Dr. Atkins diet. Then I had gall bladder problems and er surgery and then pancreitis so I lost another 25 lbs. then I thought well I won't gain weight again. Guess what? I put it on so fast... help

Count me in! I'm a big South Beach fan! I was just talking to my teen girls today about our nasty sugar habit..
|
Okay - when do you all want to start? I think I am in for today!
|
Can we all pledge to at least 20 minutes of exercise from 4-5 times a week? We can report our progress on here weekly - not our weights but how we are doing with the diet, and how we are doing with our exercise. We can also post HELPs!!

I have kept off the fifteen I lost for good, but fifteen more needs to go. I have developed heart issues, and I need to get in shape! No matter what way you chose to lose weight drinking water is an important step. Not only does it help you feel full it cleanses the body and may prevent having problems with your gallbladder. |
I started today! I got in the pool (the blow up kind LOL)
and did my water aerobics. I worked out with my water weights for 40 minutes. Thank goodness the pool is 42" deep. I am pooped tonight. My only problem is......I saw my Boston Terrier, Louie jump up and peek over the pool. All I saw was eyes and ears. Then WHAM.....he was over the edge and into the pool. He scared me to death. I had no idea he could get into that pool by himself. The pool is 16' wide so I took him to the side and told him to "go get in your bed (raft.)" He swam across the pool and climbed into the raft. I made him do that twice to make sure he could do it. When I got ready to get out, I told him to get out of the pool. He leaned over the edge of the raft and make it float to the side of the pool and he jumped out. He is just too darn smart. We are going to work on climbing the ladder tomorrow. Hey, he is fat too! It beats taking him for a walk when my knee still hurts from knee replacement surgery. LOL |

Even then weight loss can effect your gallbladder, lost 25 lbs on South Beach and had my gallbladder out. Dr said it is common when over weight and then losing it, go figure. |
Lol! Crazy dog!
|
If I do down a few dress sizes, the gall bladder can go. I don't care! lol

I kept hanging onto all my clothes that were too big as well as the ones that were too small. I finally made the decision the give away to clothes that were too big to someone who needed them. It was a great decision. I have no more "fat" clothes in case I gained weight, because I refuse to gain back what I have fought so hard to lose. I am finally in a size 18 and able to wear the clothes that were too small and now my goal is a 16. Baby steps. One size down at a time.
Anyone have tasty recipes? I don't have a SB book. |
I think I have 2 or 3 of the cookbooks, are you looking for anything special?
One of our (DH & I) favorites is the stuffed mushrooms, they are also a big hit when I serve them to others. We also like the portabello mushroom pizza. I can post the receipes if anyone is interested? |
Recipes would be great!
|
I found this web site with their recipe suggestions. Just remember that we are on phase one so watch the ingredients! Did anyone start early?

Here is an appetite suppressing trick I learned, which is also healthy. With the SB Diet you are supposed to snack (on the right things) to get your metabolism up. Eat a handful of almonds, and wash them down with a glass of water. They expand in your stomach, make you feel full, and they are allowed.
Also a great and easy breakfast is a few slices of Canadian bacon, a few eggs, and a cupful of veggies. Try it. You'll like it! |
