I want a ladder to hang my quilts on. Recently we had a windstorm and blew down a lot of limbs and trees. A friend had a gumball tree ( I think it is) and the upper branches are pretty clear of bark. WE salvaged two of them about 10 feet each and about 4 to 5 inches diameter and some smaller branches to make the rungs. Do any of you have any experience or ideas as to how to attach the rungs to the side pieces? I think we thought about nailing them first and then for decoration using leather strips or twine type stuff. All this and you can buy one on Ebay for $30.

I would use drywall screws. Those things hold everything. Then wrap it with leather or twine. Maybe even strips of cloth

ebay yes, but, urs will be sturdy, hand made and last a lifetime.... plus is "green" earth friendly and is recycling what would have other wise gone to the dump.

Then u have the feeling of accomplishment of making it ur self, u can customize the actual size of it as well as knowing where it came from, AMERICA ( I hope ur from America.... no offense if ur in another country)

I second Glassquilts suggestion as it will be a lot stronger.
