I love my machine, but what confuses me is what type of stablizer to use and when to use it?

I use iron on for stretchy things like t shirts and sweatshirts and tear away for every thing else

Thanks, looks like a great book. Right now I am watching pennies carefully since being out of work for almost 2 years :( but it will certainly be on my wishlist.

I use the sticky stabilizer. I hoop the stabilizer and then just press the fabric to it, pinning at the edges. That way, there's no hoop marks on the fabric. Sometimes that mark does not go away.

That's what I do too, but I've also used used dryer sheets and notebook or computer paper for tearaway. If you need a stronger stabilizer, just add more sheets. I always use water soluable stabilizer on the top of my project too, to keep the stitches from sinking too far into the fabric.

The sticky and water soluable are expensive, I get it at Joanns when they have it 50% off and I waste as little as possible.
