Owls are way cool and I love your pictures. A great horned owl got my cat though and I am still sad 11 years later. I do enjoy seeing the owls because it is a rare opportunity! Thank you.

I was so excited, just had to go out and take it's picture. It heard me taking the pictures, and turned it's head and looked right at us. Is this cool or what? |
Love the pictures...

Thank you for shareing this beautiful bird. We often hear them too. A sighting is so much more fun. Marvel

Owls are so beautiful. I rarely see them here. I do see lots of hawks, and down by the Boise River, you can see Bald Eagles. But owls are special!

I posted a picture of a visiting owl last week. I think with all the deep snow cover they are not able to find their usual diet of mice and other vermin. They are hungry and showing up in odd places and at unusual times of day trying to survive.

Aww, parrothead, what an adorable litte fuzzball.
We have a great horned owl in our woods too, as DH has seen it, but I never have. I'd sure love to, tho. |
Soo cool

I think owls are soooooo cool.

I heard years ago that an owl can pick up a small dog and fly off with it, I take small dogs out and stay with them until potties are done. We have woods around us and I hear them at different times of the year hooting to others, had a couple fly over the house, we have a patio cover, I wouldn't want to tangle with them, talons are sharp as razors blades.
They are beautiful. |
That bird is really pretty! I've never seen one in person in the wild. Lucky you!

Watch out for your cats and any small dogs

That is so Cute, Thanks for Sharing.

Yes, I worry about the cat because we have fox and coyote as well as the owls, eagles and hawks. As a rule, she only goes outside if I am out in the garden. She likes to play jungle out there. LOL. I don't let her out at night or leave her out overnight. And in the winter, she has NO interest in going out at all.
Our dog is big enough that she isn't in danger. LOL, I can barely pick her up. Especially when she doesn't want to move and does that dead weight limp thing. |
Keep all small animals inside. Owls are beautiful but they eat small animals. One got my Snickers (he was a white cat) when I didn't know he was out. His first trip was his last. Be careful.

It is so exciting to see the wildlife.......we have many birds and animals around ........love just sitting and watching them.............

How beautiful. I love owls. We have our own backyard visitor as well but I am always enthralled with it that I just stand and admire him.....

Oh how beautiful!

We have great horned owls in our area and sometimes they nest in our eukalyptus trees. When they do, we usually get one of the young in our yard before it is really ready to fly. Depending on the age of the little one (and that is a figurative term) Pat will put it up in the tree or over in the neighbors field (no dogs there). We have an agreement with Mom and Dad (also with the red-tailed hawks) that we take care of their babies and they leave our cats alone. So far so good.
