I know I was considered the mean mom when my kids were growing up!
I didn't think my kids deserved to have it easier or better then me or DH while they were home. They ate, so they did the cooking, they wore pricey clothes, they did the laundry, they wanted a car, they did all the housework/yardwork. DH and I did agree they were entitled for us to pay all their college costs to give them the education and head start to take care of themselves and our grandkids without draining us of our sanity or money later on. I went to work to pay for their college costs. Best money I ever spent! |
Remember having to wear 'slacks' in the winter under the skirts to walk to school because of the cold? Or paying 25 cents to wear blue jeans on Friday, with the funds going to some good cause? Oh the good ole days. Young people just don't know how good they have it.

We had remotes. We had microwaves. And that was in the early '70s. Okay, my family didn't have either one, but friends' families did. I mean, they were around.
But we didn't have Atari that far back. |
I'm loving the square you posted, two blues and a white (?) and don't know the name of it. It's so lovely I want to make one! I'm new to the Quilter's Board, so any advice or help would be great. If I had the name I could look it up! It looks like an ambitious project, but I love it so I'd like to try....I'm a potter who cuts tiny holes in the rims of my bowls, to make designs, so I'm patient and good with finicky stuff. NOT yet good with applique.
Thanks! Potwoman |
I am an oldie (64)and think those times were great. We played outside all day - even in the winter. Played board games with family and neighbors and loved it. Life was just simpler back then.

I am one of those that walked a couple of miles to school in the snow. Our coat room always smelled like a wet dog. TV? I was a teenager before we had TV, remember the tiny screen? It was like watching TV through a fish bowl. I couldn't figure out why when you turned the TV off and then back on the next morning why it wasn't the same program. I still like today better. I love having a cell phone so my children can call me anytime anywhere.

The worst part was the 8-track tape and the huge player that went with them. They filled up the whole back seat of my hand-me-down '63 Ford Falcon (baby blue)!!!

Oh, and ya'll are so right about the remote control for the TV. I have older sisters and a brother, so I was the remote control from the time I could walk!
