Dh had to mow our yard for the first time today. Very odd weather for central Illinois. Our jonquils have come and gone but the tulips are just about to bloom. This normally happens in mid April.

Isn't that a Christmas Cactus in the first pic? Whatever, It is pretty. I love the new flowers blooming. Barny

We call the first picture a Christmas Cactus. Here in Indiana most of my spring flowers are blooming except the tulips. I potted pansies today and some of my summer pots but may need to bring them inside if the weather turns really cold. We have had several days in the 80's, really unusual.

Just have to know how you got your Christmas Cactus to bloom in the spring? I can't mine to bloom at all!! My mama potted it years ago and I haven't disturbed it. It puts on new shoots but no blooms!!

It is not a Christmas Cactus but a Sunrise Cactus, it is very similar but there are some slight differences. The blooms open in the morning then close up early afternoon and then reopen the next morning.

Love those cactii!! You can actually get them to bloom most anytime - I have a Christmas and an Easter and a random! Just give them a dry cool spot for a month or more, then bring them into the light and warmth, water them.
