stabilizer

I have a question regarding stabilizer. I have large hoops and the stabilizers I have does not cover the entire hoop;like it takes two pieces. Can you buy extra wide, like 20 " or so? Or can two pieces be aligned to cover the hoop. Doesn't seem like it would be stable enough. What do you use when using your larger hoops? I have a Janome 15000. And I want to embroidery something so badly. Not like I haven't before, but had a 350e.

Allbrands.com has just about any size & brand of stabilizer.

That's good to know. I've wondered the same thing.

I always just overlap. I have also been frugal at times and have done a quick basting of scraps to get a piece big enough to fit larger hoops. I buy my stabilizer on ebay by the bolt. I used to do TONS of embroidery and I am only about a 1/3 of the way through that bolt. Saved me tons, so I don't mind overlapping and now tossing scraps :)

I just hoop my item and slide the stabilizer underneath. This was how I was taught by dealer when I got my first machine. It saves on stabilizer as you can use small pieces to put just under the design to be emb'd. Rarely do I hoop my stabilizer, unless I am doing a hoop project where there is fabric front and back to be trimmed--such as making coasters, mug rugs, patches, etc. If you have pieces too small to use, you can glue the edges together with Elmers school glue (watered down as for sandwiching quilts.

I sometimes use 505 to attach small pieces of stabiliser x

You can get different sizes in ebay. I have a 260x300 hoop and have been able to find the large rolls there.

I just use Pellon Stitch & Tear. 20" width.

I have found cut away and tear away on bolts in the WalMart fabric section. Used to buy it by the bolt from them till they discontinued their fabric dept. Now my little town has a fabric dept but not all the stabilizers they used to carry.
