Stocking full of letters

My son in in the service on a boat in the middle of no where.. anyhow...he was telling us that on Christmas they all got a stocking full of letters. His were from a second grade class and he loved reading them. They were a hit!! It gave them all something to talk about and really enjoyed them. They really do make a difference and bought so many smiles! Thank you to the teachers out there that have their class do this for our guys and gals!!!

I've always wondered if service people enjoyed the Christmas letters and cards from people they don't know....thank you for posting this and a big thank you to him for his service to our country!

What a nice thing! Who doesn't love to receive a hand written letter!

I was also going to send him a quilt but he said no....since he would not be able to take it with him - they do not have a lot of room in their bags. So I sent him a pillow case that I made with left over materials of his daughters quilt. I told him he can leave it behind along with a few books that I sent him when he comes him. If that goes over well I will try and make a bunch of pillow cases for the crew next year.

What a lovely thing to do.

Glad that those letters were received well. As a retired teacher, I remember having my second graders do that once or twice. It's a lot of work, but worth the effort to give someone else a smile.
