Storage for 18" doll clothes.

I am making our DGD some doll clothes for Christmas. I currently have them in a 12X12 storage container, but it is getting to full. Anyway, my question, does anyone have an idea of how I could make some kind of small closet/ storage for her to keep the clothes in? I am planning to have hangers for them, if I can find I good way to make a hanging closet for them.
Thanks for your ideas!
Penny

I believe someone posted a little wooden wardrobe they made for the doll clothes on QB?

One of the members on this QB used a small bookcase that was purchased at an office supply store. They took out middle shelf and put a small extension rod to hold the clothes. Also, someone posted a site of where to get doll clothes hangers

Here is a link to this QB member's answer to your question.

I need to make one for my DGD soon. For the accessories I think a shoebox size Sterilite container will do.

i just found a used cabinet that you use vcr tapes for storage it has the doors on it so you can close it. and found a used curtain hanger and attached to the hinge part where door closes. it has 2 shelves for shoes pants and skirts. etc

Nancy's Notions sells a storage unit just for this purpose. I have just been looking. My granddaughter just turned 2, so I will soon be sewing/storing doll clothes for her.

All the above suggestions are great. But it reminds me of a time about 55 years ago when I made a closet and clothes hangers for my doll from a cardboard box. I turned the box on it's narrow end so the top flaps would be the doors. I cut a hole through the sides and used a tree branch for the dowel to hang the hangers on. I cut hangers from another cardboard box. It was almost as much fun making the closet as it was playing with it afterwards.

Use a bedside table with one drawer and a shelf - put in a rod for hangers. Check out Kijiji for the bedside table/endtable

Remember the Barbie cases that had hangers on both sides and opened like a wardrobe trunk with a handle on top and a simple latch? HL or J's had a paper mache type box that would be perfect for a portable wardrobe. I'm sorry I don't remember exactly where I saw it. But it would be oh so cute decorated up and full of clothes. (Now I want to make one, even though I don't have any dolls, dresses or little girls to give to.)

Go on line American Girl Wardrobe closet and you can find plans to make a wardrobe. My husband is making our granddaughters one for Christmas and putting in two rods to hold the clothes so he changed the plans a bit. Some also show drawers but I went to Hobby Lobby and got the stack of drawers from the scrapbook section for the girls to put shoes and accessories in, good luck

I did the same thing when making a clothes closet for GD # 1. I used a dowel, though, for the clothes rod. I made all 3 GD's matching doll gowns and matching night gowns. I told them to save the things for when they had daughters.

I took a medium sized flat tote and made it like a bed..complete with mattress, pillow, pillowcase, sheets and of course a quilt! When the lid is taken off (which is the base for the mattress) there is storage!

Right now i have three large bins full of dolls, clothes and accessories. I guess i need a 5 shelf bookcase. Dear almost gd has two dolls and lots of clothes, but is only about 4' tall, so I'd have to include stairs. Lol! Maybe make her two of them. It's an idea! Hmmmm... There are some fun clothes on the " lives and loves of 18" dolls, and we'd love to see what everyone has made! Crazy about 18" dolls and trying to instill that love in my dgds !
